Re: Record using presets

It can be done by using an audio routing application to send the recording to a real-time VST host, then send the audio on to Audacity to be recorded as you twiddle the effect knobs in the host.

Not recommended unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Re: Weird thing happening

I'm on Windows 7[...] when I click playback, the 2 recordings sound terrible, as if I'm in an echo chamber Also make sure you have turned off Windows sound enhancements and all sound effects in the sound card: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements . If you want to test something in 2.0.3, Generate > Tone at 0.2 amplitude. Edit > Duplicate the tone. Switch to Time Shift Tool (F5) and drag the upper tone a few seconds to right. Play. Does it crackle at the start? Tried this in 2.0.3, no crackle. Does this project with offset tracks crackle: http...

I know almost nothing about GarageBand, but try Share > Send Song to iTunes, and uncheck the "Compress" box. This should produce an uncompressed AIF file.

Re: Recording dropouts

For clairifacation, I am getting 1/4 second dropouts ever 6 seconds and only after 30 minutes of perfect recording. Problem something with my computer. USB recording devices can do that especially if you don't plug them into a spare USB port, but do we assume you are using stereo mix of your comput...

Re: Exporting Problem

I guess also that if HoffmannA really did export 32-bit float WAV then the game may not be able to cope with that, which could explain the distortion. If you had to make the stereo track mono, make sure you do it with Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. Don't use the Track Drop-Down Menu to Split Stereo ...

Re: Problem getting Audacity files out of Dropbox

The AUP file appears viable, assuming the lower tracks are meant to have numerous short clips. I'd never used dropbox before and I just dragged the original .aup file and it's data file directly into dropbox, then sent it to the other computer. There is no data file, it's a _data folder. The _data f...

Re: Low samplerate audio sounds lowpassed?

My ears are middle-aged now, but when the Nyquist prompt is applied, I hear a slightly richer "tintinnabulation" (for want of a better word) but more noticeably I sense an slight increase in pitch, especially for the three-samples-repeated script. With three samples repeated, the spectrum ...

Re: Exporting Problem

Still didnt work. If you have imported the WAV you exported back into Audacity, it will say "32-bit float" above the Mute / Solo buttons because by default Audacity expands all imported audio to 32-bit float PCM. If you followed the instructions you were given, the file you exported will ...
