Re: Skipping in Mavericks
I now know how to make it go away. When my iMac is on, I run an ad-hoc wi-fi network which connects my other computing devices to the internet. I don't have a regular wi-fi router. Don't ask me to explain or justify. Can we at least know if you are doing this: http://www.maclife.com/article/columns...

Re: records in mono, or too loud
If you pull a computer out of a refuse bin you are on your own. I suggest you simply save any data you want to an external hard drive, format the tower's drive and reinstall Windows. If you don't have a Windows licence or the machine is not of sufficient specification to run the version of Windows i...

Re: Integrated Dynamic Range (DR) measurment tool
I don't have patience to read the DR14 source code, but found this in the manual of the "TT Dynamic Range Meter by Pleasurize Music Foundation" ( Windows download is at http://www.dynamicrange.de/sites/default/files/DR-Meter%201_4a.zip ). In order to determine the official DR value, a song...

Re: Couldn't open file
I am unable to open this file 10_mar.aup which I have sent to several people on from my email. They need to download audacity at http://audacityteam.org/download/. which I already have told them. However, when I tried to open this attachment from a mail from my sentbox, the error display is couldn'...

Re: Manipulating Decibels
Part of the problem is getting something to tell you what the RMS value of your voice is. No regular Audacity tool will do that. Effect > Amplify won't. Analyze > Contrast... can be used to measure (I assume) unweighted rms of a mono track. Analyze > Sample Data Export... can write the unweighted r...

Re: Cassette to (Dolby) Digital
Actually, you CAN export to "Dolby". It's called AC3 and the optional FFmpeg import/export library can do it! I've never used Audacity for this, and I'm not sure about creating a 5.1 Channel AC3 with Audacity. However, I have used a FREE program called wavtoac3encoder for encoding 5.1 cha...

Re: exported mp3 file has no sound
So do you now hear the file when played in iTunes? I looked in the Soundslides manual and don't see any restrictions imposed by them about the format of the MP3. As they suggest ( http://support.soundslides.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=136 ) you should stick to common sample rates and bit rates. ...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more
Do we have a plan for releasing a somewhat simplified version of this as a replacement for Vocal Remover, while putting a full "Toolkit" version on Wiki? The Nyquist Help screens are never going to be sufficient in my opinion. Even a simplified Vocal Remover/Isolator version needs detailed...

Re: exported mp3 file has no sound
I can even hear the mp3 file when I open it in Audacity. Audacity can choose its output sound device. iTunes cannot, so uses the selected device in System Preferences > Sound. In Audacity Device Toolbar , exactly what device are you using for output (playback) device? It just has no sound when impo...

Re: exported mp3 file has no sound
Thanks, but I don't think the referenced post has anything to do with my question? Unless I'm just not getting it ... The referenced post is about the user not having audio on their system, which is what you are describing. For example, play a YouTube video in your browser. Do you hear anything? Ma...
