Re: Optimal settings for a great sounding ringtone?
Well Ive used that guide, fiddled around with its settings and it just doesnt give me a good result. By 'good' result I mean it sounds distorted and just not properly optimized for a phones speaker, when it comes to playing actual music atleast. I dont know the correct terminology and couldnt tell ...

Re: Manipulating Decibels
By my measurement, the noise floor is about -47 dB rms, which is just a little too high. How did you measure that? Steve probably has fancy plug-ins :D but the methods in Audacity as shipped (as I said) are Analyze > Contrast and Analyze > Sample Data Export. Have a noise floor no higher than -60dB...

Re: Optimal settings for a great sounding ringtone?
Ah Ive already given that guide a good read, however its severly outdated and doesnt hold up for modern ringtones. Do you mean it doesn't hold up for modern smartphones? What is the make and model number of the smartphone? How are you listening to the sound on that smartphone? Describe what the pro...

Re: Disappearing Audio Track section
Make sure you are using Audacity 2.0.5 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . We do ask you to give the exact three-section version of Audacity from Help > About Audacity. Lots of users say they have the latest version, but they don't. If you saved and closed the project with the audio trac...

Re: batch downsample
Nobody answered on IRC We don't claim it is likely anyone will answer. I'm trying to use chains to batch downsample a 96khz album to 48khz. Is that possible? While editing the chain I could not see the setting for project frequency. Chains don't have a feature yet for sample rate, but we can add yo...

Re: Maya44 usb card 4 ch recording
I have indeed selected the Maya44 *4ch* as the input device in the Device Toolbar, but could only get the Mono(1) and Stereo(2) options, without the option to records all 4 channels simultaneous. Even on the Windows Control Panel -> Sound window, while I can select the Maya 4 channels device, I onl...

Re: Skipping in Mavericks
Thanks for the images (but please try to post PNG's). Do you actually see the images inline if you attach TIFF's? I don't see any clues comparing the images. Is the WiFi already on when you get home or do you have to turn it on? As a test, does 1.3.13 have this issue ( http://audacity.googlecode.com...

Re: Auto Profile for Noise Reduction — Proposal
So which one is the request? Two, added to the classic, legacy version. — Auto Profile by sampling the whole show. That could be done by the Noise Coring patch. — Guided Profile by manually selecting a sloppy portion of the show with the majority of the noise. Please explain how that would work. Ar...
