Re: timeline
Is it possible to show the timeline as the 'actual time of the day', ie have the start of the session show (for example) "12:11:40" rather that having it start as "0"?? (using version 2.1.2 on Windows 7) No that is not possible, so I moved this to "Adding Features". Ho...

Re: trying to record 78 rpm records, horrible audio.
I downloaded audacity from a free online source. You risk harming your computer if you do that. Always download Audacity from us at http://www.audacityteam.org/download/ . I am trying to record records with it but the audio is horrible. To describe it I would say it has a TON of very loud static an...

Re: Recording sounds hollow
Macs do not have a built-in way to record computer playback - you are probably recording from the internal mic, which of course sounds terrible.
The best free solution is to use Soundflower - see Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Mac.

Re: Audacity freezes after recovery popup window
It's a bug which we have now fixed in our source code. If you don't want to keep the unsaved changes, delete the AUTOSAVE file in ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/AutoSave/. This will prevent Audacity trying to recover the project. Go > Go to Folder in Finder is an easy way to get to the AutoS...

Re: WAV exports too short
Make sure you are not selecting audio then using Export Selected Audio. WAV is limited to 4 GB maximum size. Some applications won't play WAV files above 2 GB or play them incorrectly. AIFF has the same restriction. Audacity's choice of Other uncompressed files > RF64 header is the lossless PCM form...

Re: I installed a lenovo update mic won't record in stereo
We can only help you with Audacity, not with problems created by Lenovo. Is it a USB webcam, or a webcam built into the Thinkpad? When you say you set Presonus to stereo in the sound manager, is this Windows Sound? See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_how_to_s.html#rinstereo . What e...

Re: Microphone volume slider is setting itself to 0
Ok, I updated HP's audio driver for my model and also re-installed Skype, and the uninstalled it using Task Manager. The problem persists. Still sliding back to zero and no signal. I know the cord is good as I am using it with another computer. So you don't have Skype at all now? And you've tried t...

Re: Microphone volume slider is setting itself to 0
I Updated the driver on my computer which is "High Definition Audio Device" made by Microsoft. That could be the problem, as described in the link I gave: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updating_Sound_Device_Drivers . Assuming you have a branded computer like Dell or Lenovo, you want t...
