Re: Recording position error waveform

Do you mean Audacity 2.0.5? This is nothing to do with Audacity - your sound card is doing that. The problem is called DC Offset. You can correct it after recording using Effect > Normalize... . Look in Windows "Sound" if there is a DC offset correction that you can enable for the micropho...

Re: sudden poor quality sound

Look everywhere for sound effects. If you were recording from stereo mix, right-click over that recording device.

If you import a known good file and play that in Audacity, does it sound bad? If so, look for playback effects (also in your sound card itself).

Re: YETI Playback Distortion

Used my iPhone's voice message recorder for the recording; that's probably why there are reduced bass frequencies, too. The loss of bass was only in the second half of your recording that sounded bad. If you did the entire recording of the sample you attached on the iPhone, then the cause is still ...

Re: How to mark a stretch of audio, and/or amplify quiet voi

In a spoken word recording, to amplify a voice that is far away from the mic and almost inaudible, I use the compressor on that piece (default settings, played a bit but did not get far), then reduce the noise such that the level of the background noise matches the rest of the recording. Might it b...

Re: YETI Playback Distortion

What version of OS X? How did you record the M4A file - with Soundflower? I don't see any clipping (flat wave tops) in the bad recording, but it looks in Analyze > Plot Spectrum as if the audio has had much of the bass below 400 Hz removed. Have you looked in /Applications/Audio MIDI Setup? Set the ...

Re: Audacity only exporting first 2 hours....

How many channels are in the exported WAV - that is, are you mixing the four tracks to mono or stereo or exporting a four channel file? Do the tracks start or end at different times? If so you may have muted some of the tracks. Muted tracks are not exported. Whatever the problem is, WAV files cannot...

Re: local manual link not working

I am using Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 m. Thanks. Can I ask what your Audacity temporary directory is at Edit > Preferences: Directories, please? As a retired time served electronics engineer, in the industry "does not work" means just that! In this case clicking on the "manual"...

Re: How to record using two (2) Rode USB Podcaster mics

You have said previously that aggregating two UCA 202's and recording from the aggegated device produced excellent four mono channels. Not with my lips I didn't. This test was my first experience with multi-channel aggregation. Um, you did: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=156052#p1560...

Re: How to record using two (2) Rode USB Podcaster mics

If the aggregation was smart enough to put each mic in separate channels What are the chances the show's guests are seated in individual soundproof rooms? If they're not, then you will get cross-performer leakage which means your track timing repair has to be exact and perfect to avoid comb filter ...
