Re: Using Audacity from a prerecorded-file.
I did an example of using two USB microphones with a Mavericks MacBook Pro. I have not seen these tools in earlier OS-X versions, so you do need OS-X 10.9.x. Aggregate Devices was apparently introduced in OS X 10.4. It was hidden in the "Audio" menu in Audio MIDI Setup: http://www.soundon...

Re: sudden poor quality sound
sorry, perhaps I didn't explain it well, but there' s no contradiction, as what you quoted me saying is exactly what happens. If I play an audio file from my hard drive, OR from the web, and I choose Stereo Mix I get the hollow sound. If I play it via my PC's line out (which goes through a stereo a...

Re: recording at 32float/96, does it dither on export to 24b
If I want to "normalize" my 24bit recording (set at 24bit default) will this dither? Yes, any Normalize operation will add dither noise because the audio is being processed at 32-bit float then downconverted to return to the track at 24-bit. Any process that recalculates the amplitude val...

Re: Alignment probem exporting and importing
Further to Koz's answer, the following might help you for final export if the problem is that space between time zero and the start of the audio was removed in the export. To solve that, select a little audio starting at time zero and Generate > Silence. The selection does not need to go all the way...

Re: is JACK recommend with Audicity??
My understanding is that this is a bug in PortAudio's support for libpulse or libasound. If so, it should be followed up with PortAudio.steve wrote:The main issue with PulseAudio is that Audacity may freeze when starting or stopping the audio stream (starting or stopping Record or Playback).

Re: import and edit files from itunes
I was able to import 2 songs I want to combine. How do I record the first part of one song and the first part of a second song consecutively and burn it to a cd? I am trying to create a cd with parts of 2 different songs for a talent show. Do you mean you want to sing over the WAV files? Assuming y...

Re: sudden poor quality sound
I tried playing the same audio from the web out of my PC (line out), which goes into my Stereo Amp, which then goes back into my PC (Line in) and when I record that using Line In in Audacity, it is fine! So, it's a "Stereo Mix" issue, but probably not an Audacity issue per se as it happen...

Re: Audio disappearing as Audacity records
How does Audacity generate the name of the temp folder dir? project XXXX where XXXX is a number - is there some logic to it? The XXXXX is a random five-digit number. The machine in question is joined to a domain and users are domain users. Very occasionally, another user logs in and Audacity attemp...

Re: local manual link not working
Perhaps it is just that I am more used to working with high-end professional programs (such as those sold by Adobe) where error reports are accepted and fed into a major development resource. An error report of the form "do not work" would not be accepted by any technical support departme...
