Re: Convert Note to frequency and frequency to note

Taking into account that it has to go into one of Generate, Effect or Analyze menus, can you think of a better name? I think it is more appropriate in Generate, given there is no Tools menu. I can't think of a better name without adding "Conversion" or "Tool" to the name. In the...

Re: Convert Note to frequency and frequency to note

Note that on Windows (and perhaps Mac OS X ?) it is not possible to select and copy from the returned message window, but if you click on the "Debug" button rather than the "OK" button, a second "debug" window will open after closing the message. There is a "Windo...

On a noisy telephone system? No in my opinion, unless the noise is very high.

Re: Convert Note to frequency and frequency to note

FWIW, a fair number of Audacity tutorials that show how to use Audacity to convert from 440 Hz to 432 Hz state that you should convert to "432.186 Hz". I don't know why, any more than why 432 Hz is in accordance with the mathematical patterns of the universe, but you "might" get ...

Re: Convert Note to frequency and frequency to note

I thought from its name it was also doing pitch detection, so I was confused at first.

This is a "tool". If we ever have a "Tools" Menu, would a future iteration of Nyquist plug-ins be able to go in there without generating a track?

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 & Audacity

Thank you Gale for tips. I hope those things gets resolved also with proper packaging so it's somehow included for easy installation. Audacity Packages and what libraries are compiled in are solely the responsibility of the distribution. As I've said before elsewhere, I think endlessly patching Aud...

Re: recording at 32float/96, does it dither on export to 24b

When you say "Strictly speaking, almost certainly you will be recording at 16-bit or 24-bit upconverted to 32-bit resolution.", I think you are just refering to the fact that the actual bit depth of the stream the website is streaming at would be 16bit or 24bit and not actually 32bit whic...

Re: Sound card disappeared from rec & play options

As explained, I am only a casual Linux user, sorry. there's a slight delay or "sticky-ness" when engaging rec or play; audacity was working perfectly smooth before. I think you could contact your distro to see if they can shed light on anything in their update that could have caused this i...

Re: Unable to switch from built in mic to line input

Is this what you mean? It doesn't appear that I have choices. If you had the choice, it would appear on both input and output tab: http://u.sera.to/content/images/41/17241/17241_article_big.jpeg If you don't see that choice then I assume you cannot input audio into the Mac except with a four-positi...
