Re: set mp3 kbps for mono to half of stereo to get same qual
The normalize to 0 dB might help but if you don't want that (for example you are applying Replay Gain) ... Personally I'd not trust normalizing to 0 dB, but "close to" 0 dB definitely helps to get the best out of VBR. The issue with Lame encoded files having a higher peak level than the o...

Re: Windows 8.1 Desktop: Line In Too Loud
I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue (sound card) or a software issue (OS, drivers, Audacity, etc.). We can't see your computer but we can tell you that Audacity doesn't apply real-time effects to recordings. You can ensure you have the latest audio drivers for your computer model from the HP ...

Re: set mp3 kbps for mono to half of stereo to get same qual
The conclusions that I would draw from this is that for classical music with a wide dynamic range, the audio should be normalized close to 0 dB before encoding, and use a quality setting of at least "Standard" (-V 2). The normalize to 0 dB might help but if you don't want that (for exampl...

If you don't mind some possible slight quality reduction, you could connect from headphones out of the receiver and turn the volume knob down.

Re: mp3 lame
Get the zip of LAME and follow these steps: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#maclame_zip . You can extract "libmp3lame.dylib" where you like. If you put it in the Audacity installation folder and restart Audacity then you should not have to use the Au...

Re: Losing Sound in All Programs
Can you try: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updat ... ce_Drivers .
It is possible you need to correct the drivers you have for this Realtek device so they are the latest ones supplied by the computer or motherboard manufacturer.

Re: Tempo adjustment
Audacity does not do what you want in an automatic way. That's why I said it was a feature request.
You may be able to do Effect > Change Speed on one or more tracks and then Change Tempo on other tracks to that new length.

Re: La fenetre principale d'AUDACITY n'apparait plus
Please try quitting Audacity and NewPrefsInitialized=1 as I suggested. If you cannot choose Audacity > Quit Audacity, open Activity Monitor and force quit Audacity before NewPrefsInitialized=1.
