Re: Noise on recording

If the MacBook Pro has Mavericks installed over previous OS X, try reinstalling Mavericks. Use a standard, moderate project rate bottom left of Audacity, like 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz. See Effect > Noise Removal or look at Analyze > Plot Spectrum to see if the noise spike is a hum at a particular freque...

Re: my vinyl recordings sound bad

Audacity 2.0.2 is legacy now so you should upgrade at http://audacityteam.org/download/mac , though it won't be relevant to your problem. If your Mac only has a combined audio input and output, that is not suitable. Buy a USB interface with a line-in input like one of these: http://wiki.audacityteam...

Re: Want to record an LP

However, the amplitude of the wave is much too high but I have no idea how to set it lower. For USB devices, Audacity is usually unable to control the recording input level. This was a problem with older versions and is still a problem because of how Windows handles USB audio. The usual way to adju...

Re: Latency Problems

When I click record is when latency happens. You are still not saying what exactly happens. Tell us what happens without using the word "latency". The recording will be laid down late - there is nothing you can do about it except correct it afterwards (manually or with latency correction)...

I tried moving the folder they're located in &q...

Re: Error opening sound device. Help.

So I've been trying to record the audio for trouble in terrorist town (Do not question the motivations of an animator.) and I set the audio device too my speakers, and I can record fine whilst I'm not playing, but when I start I just get this error. "Error while opening sound device. Please ch...

Re: USB to Audacity Hum

I tried the Pink noise suggestion, but the green bars are still pinned with the high pitched hum. What do you mean by "pinned"? What playback device are you choosing in Device Toolbar ? If for example you generate a sine tone at 0.5 amplitude, the playback meter should be on a steady -6 d...

Re: Building SWH Plugins on OSX

I invite the Audacity OSX build maintainer to use our fork (mine until merged into stable) https://github.com/tresf/lmms/tree/stable-1.0/plugins/LadspaEffect/swh Hi Tres, Thanks. I let Paul Davis at Ardour know and gave him this topic URL. So presumably you still have to commit the necessary change...
