Re: Recording with a microphone
It's a used Dell Dimension 2350 In addition, I noticed that I had changed the setting in the first box to MME when I was trying out something based on one of your suggestions and apparently neglected to return it to Windows Direct Sound. When I changed it back to W D S, another option appeared in t...

Re: Sample rate question
Windows 8 has a similar search where you may want to turn off the Bing advertisements, but at least you don't get the ads when you are just trying to find an app to launch. That was not my experience when I tried Windows 8. Within the first hour it had offered to sell me Microsoft Office, a DVD dec...

Re: Blue Yeti USB Mic hearing monitoring echo [SOLVED]
I was hearing with echo and delay the voice track being recorded. Then that was apparently because you had "Listen" turned on, as I suggested. I wouldn't expect that to be on by default. Thanks for giving the steps to unmute the microphone playback for monitoring. The Manual for Yeti sugg...

Re: Sample rate question
Is Linux Mint better than the Debian and Ubuntu? The more variations of the Linux are created the harder the choice which one to use... You are certainly spoilt for choice in which version of Linux to choose. I do use Ubuntu for testing Audacity. Ubuntu is OK if you have a powerful enough machine a...

Re: Noise from USB input
We don't make any Audacity 2.5, so if that is not a typo your first step should be to download the latest 2.0.5 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . USB inputs can be noisy, but Audacity is not adding the noise. Try another USB port the other side of the machine. Make sure the USB p...

Re: putting the Headphones In for Timer recording
When I Timer-record with the headphones plugged in the sound comes from the internal speakers. I am trying to record internet streaming media. 'Listen to this device' was already unchecked in all the devices. I enclose some screen shots of what I get when I open the control panel and sounds and dev...

Re: putting the Headphones In for Timer recording
Workaround: try plugging in a dummy 3.5mm stereo jack with no cables attached or one that terminates in another plug of some sort. My other method is to plug in my active speakers as they have their own volume control. Is that going to help if plugging in headphones doesn't kill the internal speake...

Re: Sample rate question
But perhaps even better just to get another laptop or PC and use the one on the internet with Linux and the other with Windows. This way many problems will be solved. Just needs a bit of investments. Windows 7 and especially 8 have much more security built in under the hood than XP, just as later O...

Choose the correct playback device in Device Toolbar (barre de périphériques).
If the problem continues, reboot the computer.

Re: Creating a voice-only-version doesn't work
See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... _Isolation . For your method to work the instrumentals must be identical in both tracks. They won't be if you pulled arbitrary files from the internet. Lossy formats like MP3 won't help.
