Re: Stop Audacity Recording the Beat and Vocals?
Would it be possible to record this, still hear the backing track and not have the backing track recording as per my first question? No, because: To record what is playing in your browser you need to record what is playing on your computer. If you play back tracks in Audacity, they will be "pl...

Re: Recording fades in and out
As far as I can determine all my drivers are up to date. Have you explicitly read http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updating_Sound_Device_Drivers ? The only way to be sure you have the correct latest audio drivers for your built-in sound device is to go to the web site of the computer or motherboar...

Re: Is there a way to "lock" a clipping?
Another setting is relevant if you remove part of the audio from one of multiple clips in a track or insert audio between them. If you don't want the clips to right of the edit to move, you should turn off "Editing a clip can move other clips" in Tracks Preferences . Or as Steve says, move...

Re: Error: Not well-formed (invalid token) at line 6085
Also, if your computer is restarting when recording this strongly suggests a fault with the sound device drivers, or even a hardware fault with the sound device or some other device. Or if you were recording unattended, it could be Windows restarting after Windows Update. It is better to disable up...

Re: Lost Chapter Markers
it is my book. I recorded it in Audacity. Now I want to publish as an audio book. So, I need one MP3 file with chapters and cover art. When I export my combined Audacity files to one MP3 file, no chapters appear. I need chapters in the MP3 file. The trouble with that is that although you can write ...

Re: Error: Not well-formed (invalid token) at line 6085
It should just be a question of deleting the redundant line before last which is a series of nulls with a duplicate </project> tag at the end.
I've attached the repaired file.

Re: Lost Chapter Markers
Audacity file with forty chapters; when I export to MP3 or WAV, chapter markers disappear. I want one MP# file with chapters. How do I do that? Thanks. Do you mean you imported a file into Audacity that had chapter marks already, or you created labels for each chapter in an Audacity project? If you...

Re: 27 second recording
Actually, RIGHT after I installed it I started a cassette, pressed record (having made no changes) and it stopped at 27. I started "tinkering" with setting and got it to go to 52. Then what exactly did you change - Is it a USB tape deck you are recording from? Yes, USB Cassette deck OK, s...
