Re: Blank spots recording Skype
Yes I've heard feedback on mobile phones when two people are trying to talk at the same time. I don't think I have heard dropouts of one party or the other when both talk together, though since one or or the other tend to stop talking that can be hard to judge. I have never heard or recorded a compl...

Thanks, so I see it does! Well done!Robert J. H. wrote:"Normalize" works without prior analysis.

Re: Error _____ is already open in another window
I can't open a particular file that I saved to export to Win Media Player. I get an error message saying, "_____ is already open in another window". But what window? Where is it? Audacity runs as multiple windows within the same instance of the application. To move between windows, you sh...

Re: Blank spots recording Skype
I am not totally convinced by that, or we would hear much more about dropouts when using Audacity to record Skype. It probably depends on how we are imagining the "blank spots" that Enver is talking about. None of us other than Enver have actually heard these "blank spots". When...

Re: Feature request: Moving tracks
Agreed, but in that case how about CTRL + drag to move all selected tracks. I'm not keen - it's becoming "logically messy". There is no logical or intuitive clarity about what should happen if, as in the example I gave, track 2 and 3 are selected and track 1 (not selected) is being dragge...

Re: ReplayGain
I agree the latest version is not ready for release, testing with mono tones, anyway. If I do the Analyze step, then use Effect > Amplify... to apply the adjustment suggested by Analyze, then Analyze again, I get 0.0 dB Replay Gain result. If I apply the suggested adjustment in "Normalize"...

Re: Acutal waveblock file got swapped with an orphan blockfi
I closed Audacity and opened the .aup file in WordPad, which I routinely use to inspect and edit (to rename the project) these files. That is very strongly discouraged . ;) The correct and safe way to rename projects is File > Save Project As... then delete the original AUP project file and _data f...

We don't do that. See these commercial services: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=audio+forensics .

Re: Audacity blew my speakers, and now they're ok again...?
Audacity has volume controls independent of the computer, so even if you have the computer sound relatively even, you can boost the Audacity playback volume enough to overload the speakers. You can only make playback louder independent of the computer volume by using the -....+ gain slider on the T...

Re: Missing Audio Data
After finishing the recordings for project 1, I duplicated it (let's call it project 2) If you did that by copy and paste within the same folder, you run the risk of destroying one or both projects, as warned in many places in the documentation. The reason is that the AUP project file and the _data...
