Re: ALAC info missing / confusing!

You can explicitly add metadata with something like: ffmpeg -i - -acodec alac -metadata title=my_title "%f" but note that a limitation is that the metadata cannot include spaces. I don't know if it's different on Linux, but on Windows (for LAME and FFmpeg) you can include spaces in tags b...

Re: Export dialog format unclickable

Have you tried to "Retinize" Audacity? It so, try deretinizing it: http://www.addictivetips.com/mac-os/retinizer-make-mac-apps-display-text-in-retina-resolution/ . If this is the problem and you really need to retinize Audacity, you can try exporting MP3 using command-line export: http://m...

Re: Having problems recording from streamed audio

(If you are listening through USB speakers or a USB headset and capturing the stream sent through the soundcard, it's not going to work.) Recording USB speakers or USB headset should indeed work if you record using Windows WASAPI (as FrustratedUser is doing). You won't be able to use stereo mix of ...

Re: Frequency-triggered recording in Audacity?

If Audacity or any software was to do this it would have to continuously analyze the frequency spectrum of the incoming audio which would be computationally expensive and could lead to dropouts unless the computer was very fast.

Re: No speakers

my computer is connected to my monitor/t.v flat screen which has built in speakers, but Audacity does not seem to pick up the sound,so I will be attempting Robert2's suggestion :) OK, but you still have to decide which output that is on the computer that your TV monitor is connected to. I'm not sure...

Re: modified silence marker to insert more silence

As far as I can see, the first silence in the selection (whether white space, generated silence or sufficiently low level noise) is always extended, Leading silence is extended if there is any leading silence . If that's the rule, so be it. I'm just saying that a mere user has no idea what the beha...

Re: No speakers

@Gale, Am I wrong in assuming that speakers are connected to an audio output (that is sound coming out of the computer) and not input (sound going into the computer)? My understanding was that caffeinated is trying to record the sound coming from a TV that is connected to external speakers, and has...

Re: Recorded tracks without waveforms

I did get those meters. Everything was done on the same day, everything was recorded & played back at least once. You should take up the suggestion to import some of the AU files from the project's _data folder into am empty Audacity window, or better, attach three of the AU files here. Please ...
