Re: modified silence marker to insert more silence
So you're saying that you want the leading silence to not extend and the trailing silence to be extended? or that you want all silences to be extended? "Want" is too strong a word, but my incorrect assumption was that the default would be for all silences to be extended (because there is ...

Re: ALAC info missing / confusing!
maybe in prefs make it clear that the default project rate is for new recordings only, while the project rate for anything imported will use the first thing imported? The developers would not want explanatory text in the interface however I think the Manual is reasonably clear about the purpose of ...

Re: ALAC info missing / confusing!
if I could though, I'd like to suggest that Audacity support ALAC natively, as it does FLAC, which I think it should be able to now since apple made ALAC open source and royalty free. it would greatly simplify things for casual users like me, and allow tags to xfer like they do for FLAC. I don't th...

Re: Error: Not well-formed (invalid token) at line 6085
If you have an irreplaceable recording it is better to save an Audacity project (or better yet export a WAV file) as soon as recording completes. I don't see anything wrong with line 6085 so I have applied the standard solution to your file - remove the line before last which is just NUL's and a dup...

Re: recording with audacity. controling file size
Perfect uncompressed audio is large - see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/file_export_dialog.html#compare . If you want to export WAV at 16-bit 44100 Hz, 10 MB is only one minute of stereo audio or two minutes of mono audio. How long is the audio you need - 5 minutes? FLAC gives you twice as mu...

Re: Frustrated with J and K keys
Occasionally while labeling tracks, any "J" or "K" that I type will not print, instead the cursor goes to the beginning or end of the project. All the shortcut keys seem to work OK. Eventually, the problem goes away. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It MAY have something t...

Re: ALAC info missing / confusing!
i'll just enter metadata after the fact. doing it at the command line isn't for me. I was hoping for an automated way via a switch. no big deal. I was able to import my wav from DVD to audacity natively at 48khz (by first setting it as the project rate prior to import) The project rate should chang...

I installed whatever ver the audacity DL buttons in the prefs sent me to, which looks like 0.6.2 is that the current, latest, stable ver? in the command window when u make an ALAC, it looks like its from 2010/2011. Re: ALAC info missing / confusing!
The project rate should change to the rate of the imported file unless you already have another track present.MrSinatra wrote:I was able to import my wav from DVD to audacity natively at 48khz (by first setting it as the project rate prior to import)

Re: UNDO cancels the view???
I think there is too much in the History already that is not edits, but also think it's wrong that a View Mode change can be undone by undoing something else (unless there is a specific choice to have that happen or not). We don't change horizontal zoom when undoing an action so why change vertical ...
