You should not need to disable USB support in Windows Device Manager. If the USB cassette player is a problem when recording streaming audio, remove it from the computer. If they can make a splitter cable work they don't need to be on two computers, then at least they lose the synchronisation part of the problem.

Also visit the Creative site and check if drivers are required for your SoundBlaster model. If so, ensure you have the last driver they made available for XP.
