Yes, that's another feature request (if you want to make it) that there should be a choice at export time to include leading white space as silence.

If the audio playback is still a problem, you could try increasing "Audio to buffer" in the Audacity "Recording Preferences". That setting affects playback too. Ok, you refer at latency? I don't know what language you use for Audacity but it is the first box from the top in Reco...

Exactly what version of Audacity do you have? If it is a version in the 1.3 or 2.0 series you can force quit Audacity and it should recover the audio. See: Recovery - Audacity Manual .
