Re: Add a tab to the instruction book

I do have some sympathy for those that request microseconds because milliseconds is not quite enough for measuring sample periods in "normal" time units, but 6 decimal places is over the top for audio. The issue may become irrelevant when we have James' new track panel with its fancy new ...

Re: NoiseRemoval.cpp

Is "Isolate" useful (as defined above)? Yes, if you want to "isolate" a sound, (assuming the effect works). For example, you have a recording of the sea, but there are occasional other sounds in the recording that you don't want, then by sampling the noise of the sea, you should...

Re: Need Help With Settings

I'm OK with the vocals NOT BEING a solo track. If you are recording the music background in your vocal track, you are not doing it right, and it could even be the cause of the problem. If the vocal track is not perfectly aligned with the music track, the music in the vocal track and the music in th...

Re: Sound but no recording

My computer has been made up for me by a local computer firm. Realtek - without a "c" - is the sound card on my computer, and the driver is up to date. Up-to-date does not always mean correct, though one would hope the computer firm have actually matched the sound card driver to the mothe...

Re: Add a tab to the instruction book

You would be surprised how many still use 1.2 e.g. the people who like to see microseconds in the selection values. You'd be surprised that I actually wouldn't be surprised ... ;) All I'm surprised at is that we are featuring legacy, obsolete, 1.2 on our bleeding-edge alpha Manual  It probabl...

Re: Add a tab to the instruction book

Perhaps a "more slick" alternative would be a link for "Latest Version", or "Update Audacity". A link for the latest version is in the Sidebar in the Manual already. It is in the 2.0.5 Manual - but in the Alpha 2.0.6 there is no "Useful External Links" nav pa...

Re: NoiseRemoval.cpp

Just a thought: Rather than having the options "Remove" and "Isolate", we could have 3 options: Remove: Removes some of the profiled noise so as to reduce the noise level. Residual: Inverse of "Remove". Returns the sound that would be removed if we used "Remove&qu...

Re: Selecting and deleting audio between labels.

If I set "Label starting point" to zero in the committed Sound Finder, the first label only is placed 10 ms after the start of the sound, so it seems the first label is treated differently. I think that's just the +/- 0.01 second inaccuracy. It did look like the first label was placed dif...

Re: Sound but no recording

For a start I don't think you do have a "Realteck" device (with a "c"). If you do then I think you have ripoff sound card drivers that are probably the cause of the problem. Even if you do have Realtek the sound card drivers could still be the problem. What is the exact make and ...
