Re: File Type

It's best to read the manual for the DVD player, but a computer will play any format that the application can play. The two most common formats are Microsoft signed 16-bit PCM WAV and MP3. If you want perfect quality and have space on the DVD, use WAV at 44100 Hz project rate. It's 10 MB per minute ...

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE CRACKLING SOUND FROM CASSETTE RECORDING?

Presumably you have only this one audio input on the Mac? What is the exact model number of the Mac?

Can you attach five seconds of voice that has the crackling? Please see How to post an audio sample .

Is there an electronics store where you are on holiday? Mic to USB converters aren't rare. And you're sure you haven't muted the device (on the thing itself and in Windows) aren't you?

Re: One-hour long WAV file compressed in 13 min. How to fix

What do you mean that nothing happens when you import it normally (not using Import raw)? Do you see blue waves? If the file imports into Audacity in some fashion, try downloading "MediaInfo" from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows . Get the version without installer, bec...

Re: Error while opening sound device in Audacity 2.0.5.

Please try the 2.0.5 Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#sound_device . If you are recording with a USB device this may have changed your system playback device. You may need to choose your built-in speakers or headphones by name in the second box of Audacity's Device Toolba...

Re: file recovery

I have 10.6 GB free. That isn't much. One hour of stereo recording at 44100 Hz is 1.2 GB by default. Make an edit to the whole recording and you have used 2.4 GB. Is running Skype simultaneous to running Audacity a problem? if so, why? Skype manages audio routing quite aggressively in order to do w...

Sure, it gets deselected if you click off it, but it seems to stay selected on the timeline above the track window.
Make another selection or close the track.

Re: Recording el.guitar via USB, no input sound

which combination from the drop down menus would "read" the usb input? You should be prepared the device may not work, or does not work without the XEar 3D drivers which you will have to search for online - see the Amazon customer reviews. If Windows sees it, try restarting Audacity. It s...

Re: Multitasking in multiple windows

I hope Audacity will support multitasking in a future. Sounds like I should count that as a vote on our feature tracking system. Audacity would have to be much more threaded than it is now, and that is hard work. Note that if you import WAV or AIFF using On-Demand Loading (which is separately threa...
