Re: FFmpeg message suddenly appears after years of use.
I ran exhaustive virus scan and got no hits. Still no idea of the source of my difficulties. So I saved my files, then uninstalled and re-installed Audacity. Problem still there. went to http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Lame_installation#Windows_Instructions and found detailed instructi...

Re: Very Low Input Volume Setting
The only concern might be how you are connecting the KHL turntable to the computer. If you are going from KHL through a phono amplifier to a computer microphone input then that amplifier output will be too strong for the mic input and the mic may only be a mono input. If you are going straight from ...

Re: Trying to Sync 2 Logitech H390 usb headsets
However, Windows does have a playback mixer and you can record everything you're hearing through the speakers/headphones . You can only do that though if you can get the USB mics to play through the speakers in the first place. "Listen to this device" might work for you if you are on Wind...

Re: "Error: Not well-formed" - Can't recover help!
60 minutes seems about right for the number of AU files referenced in the AUTOSAVE. Are you sure you posted the entire log? If not, please do so. Open the "project17231" folder in Explorer and drag 12 of the AU files into Audacity, three from each of the "d" folders to get a good...

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE CRACKLING SOUND FROM CASSETTE RECORDING?
Mavericks living up to its name again. It sounds and looks like small dropouts. Is it a MacBook Pro? Are you running lots of different applications while recording, or running Skype? If that's not the case, Audacity > Preferences..., Recording section, and try a different "Audio to buffer"...

Re: Audacity for Surface 2
Are there plans to make Audacity available for RT in the future? Only perhaps in the very long term. In any case the issue is confused for Windows RT by the fact that Windows Store where RT apps must be placed is probably incompatible with our GPL licence. A start is being made on writing an interf...

Re: Slight change requested at FAQs
Perhaps "Is there a maximum recording length or limit on recording usage?" is closer to what's needed? For my money these are, and should rightly be, two separate FAQs: 1) Is there a maximum recording length? 2) Is there a time limit on recording usage? Though 2 may be better worded as &q...

Re: Replacing a track's source audio
I'd like to replace the MP3 sources with the WAV sources. There are no differences between the MP3s and WAVs in relation to length or volume There probably are small differences. MP3's have silence padding at the start but WAV's do not. It seemed like the source replacements should be an obvious pl...

Re: Replacing a track's source audio
Windows XP SP2 Please be careful with Windows XP. Microsoft are no longer officially supporting it, so it will be unpatched against any new security vulnerabilities that appear. Make sure you have XP Service Pack 3. You can still download Service Pack 3 from Microsoft if necessary: http://support.m...

Re: Digitizing vinyl collection
Change the USB cable, make sure it is tight both ends and plug it into an empty USB port on the computer, not into a USB hub.
