Re: Can not see components :(
Is your default system language right-to-left (RTL)? Audacity does not work properly with RTL languages. If you accept using Audacity in English, quit Audacity, open your file manager application and show hidden files. Open the folder /home/<your user name>/.audacity-data/ then open the file audacit...

Re: Initial Setup
Any other thoughts out there?? Steve's answer was correct. To record from the turntable, Audacity must be able to see the USB Audio CODEC input in the third box of Device Toolbar . Right-click over the speaker icon by the system clock, then choose "Recording Devices". Do you see the USB A...

Re: Only records last 30 minutes
No previous tracks selected Even if a previous track is deselected, if there is a selection in the Timeline above the blue waves and Transport > Overdub is "on", then recording will be limited to the selection. think I had a "pc booster" program from iolo that piggybacked on the...

Re: Vinyl recording via USB
...when I try to play back the sound is grossly distorted. Go into the Windows Control Panel, find the USB audio device and make sure Microphone Boost is turned- off . Doug, do USB turntables and USB cassette decks actually have a levels boost? Your link is about motherboard mic inputs. I have had ...

Re: How to change input to ME-25
How do I change the input properly? I want to use ME-25 as input so I can record guitar Why the &^%$#@ can I have it as an output but not input? Have you tried restarting Audacity? The ME-25 manual says driver installation is mandatory (the driver includes ASIO, so that could be a problem, depe...

Re: How to change input to ME-25
Audacity doesn't support ASIO. Please stop saying that. ;) Audacity supports ASIO, but that support is not available in shipped copies of Audacity due to licensing issues. However you can compile Audacity yourself with ASIO support as long as you do not distribute that ASIO-enabled build to anyone ...

Re: Gverb vs Reverb
What happened to the Vinyl effect? I liked that. Do you mean an effect to simulate vinyl distortion? Audacity does not ship with one of those, so it must have been a plug-in you had. There is a vinyl distortion effect in the SWH LADSPA plug-ins set. Assuming you are on Windows or Mac, you can get t...

Re: Vinyl recording via USB
Make sure you have Audacity 2.0.5 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows then read Recording with USB turntables or USB cassette decks - Audacity Manual . Ignore instructions about Audacity in the manual for the turntable. Those instructions are not written by us and could be nonsense. Excess...

Re: constant "throm" on old cassette Audacity 2.0.5 Win7 SP1
Try posting a short audio sample that has the thrum noise on its own followed by the thrum mixed in with the speech or song. See How to post an audio sample .
Generally, try using a noise sample near the beginning of the cassette rather than the end.

Re: Only records last 30 minutes
Make sure there is no selection in previous tracks. If you need previous tracks present, press the purple Skip to Start button |<< which removes any selection and moves the editing cursor to time zero. Then recording will start from zero and should not be constrained.
