Re: Audacity 2.0.5 (.exe)can't open aup. file

I looked further down on the thumb drive list and found another Audacity project with the same name. This does open, and it does indeed say that there are 40 orphan files. Should I continue without deleting the orphans, as Audacity is suggesting? Does that create any issues later? After editing, I ...

Re: Question about playback volume

I noticed when I opened up a Beatles song in Audacity to get a feel for how a commercially-released recording would look, the waveform (or whatever it that you call the visual output in Audacity lol) looked a lot more consistent across the board, whereas mine has more peaks & valleys with the s...

Re: No INput options

If the input box in Device Toolbar is blank, then all your input devices are disabled in Windows and you can't record. Quit Audacity then follow the steps at http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#vistacp . Show and enable all the input devices that your sound card has. If you see &q...

Re: LOUD Buzz - I haven't even started yet!

BUZZ -- Hello, I want to record from a simple cassette player {using Earphone jack, there's no place for RCA CABLE.}. It's a recording of speech, and about 1 hour and 25 minutes long. I've inserted the jack in the 'Line In' on the back of the PC tower. Using Audacity 2.0.5. When I click on Input Mo...

Re: Electronic Burps

Please post a short sample WAV file of the problem. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=72887 for how to do that.

This page may also be of assistance if the problem is small dropouts in the recording:

Re: Save settings for all users

Windows 7 64 bit - Audacity 2.0.5 - Seeking to save preferences for all users. Audacity doesn't do that. All settings are per user. Reading the Audacity wiki - I do not find the settings indicated - http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Lame_Installation#All_users Launch Audacity, click Edit > Preferen...

Re: no mic input level at all

Firewire Solo does not support later than OS X 10.7.4 according to their site, but you should make sure you have the latest drivers available http://www.maudio.co.uk/index.php?do=support.drivers&f=1229 . What you could try in Audacity is choosing "4 input channels" in Device Toolbar , ...

Re: recording problem

I have version 2.0.5. When I make a recording (p.e. music), Audacity first records the music for about 6 seconds, then erases the recorded sound and starts recording the next 6 seconds etc. So after 18 seconds I have only the last 6 seconds of music and the first 12 seconds are mute (still). And th...

Re: Want to add strings to my track recordings

So basically, Audacity is a recording and editing device, and cannot really be used as an instrument (with the help of QWERTY for example), and also cannot produce sounds, but only alter sounds that are imported or prerecorded? Yes, more or less. The main way of creating sounds is with MIDI or VST ...

Re: Can't start recording

I want to turn my recordings into CDs so do they have to be 44.1 or can they be 48. To make it is easy as possible for your CD burner it is recommended you export as a stereo WAV at 44100 Hz (not 44.1 Hz) project rate. If the CD is to be used in a boom box/music centre, or in a car player or other ...
