I am not sure what you mean. Are you Append-recording at the end of the track? What are you recording, exactly? Is the new recording at the wrong speed compared to the previous recording?

Re: Cut tool not working properly

Version is 2.0.5., downloaded two days ago from the official site. To explain better, if i select 4 seconds and then I cut, the cut is 10-12 seconds long, half before the selection and half after the selection, adding a straight line. Then perhaps Audacity cannot write to its temporary directory. L...

Re: AAC file in iTunes into Audacity

I believe Apple discontinued the Fair-Play DRM scheme years ago. The split was if you paid the traditional 99c, you had FairPlay and it wouldn't let you copy, but if you paid $1.99, you paid for the music and the license to copy. I think most or all recent songs will be DRM-free, and most old FairP...

Re: Error opening sound device...

I have tried all of these things on the Wiki and what you just suggested and I am having the same problem. However, instead of shutting down mid-recording, it doesn't even let me record. Really frustrated! I was recording with the mic and then all of a sudden I opened up a new Audacity window and i...

Re: Poor quality recording--sounding like in a tin can

For the glitches, you might find something on http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Managing_Computer_Resources_and_Drivers . Have you tried another USB cable? Stick to 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz project rate bottom left of Audacity. In Edit > Preferences (Recording section) you could try increasing "Aud...

Re: A Question!!!

If you want to "punch in" in the middle of an existing recording, you can't do that in the same track. It's a feature request. From your description you may be satisfied with Append Record. Stop the recording. Then hold SHIFT and click on the Record button, or use the SHIFT + R shortcut. T...

Re: Recording audio from sound card

Yesterday I was able to record streaming audio in Audacity. (See former posts) Without changing any settings, today it suddenly didn't work. After pressing the red "record" button, the cursorline does not move and I get a message that the sound input devide is wrong. With exactly the same...

Re: Not working in iMac mavericks

What I find interesting is that the computer "sees" the "iPhone 1/8 inch microphone adapter - 3.5mm 4 conductor TRRS Male to 3.5mm Microphone Input Jack" that KV Connections sold me, but Audacity does not see it, even after I quit audacity and reopen it. It continues to give as ...

To be clear for others, you meant 44.1 kHz (44100 Hz).

Re: Error Opening File problem

Probably the path is too long (including the names of all the folders in the path to the file). I haven't tried to count the characters in your example. The file name limitation on Windows is 255 characters including spaces. The pathname limitation in Audacity on all platforms is 256 characters incl...
