Re: a general question..about recording 78s to cds.
What effect do you want? You can silence it, but I won't sound natural. If it's repetitive noise you can try the built-in Noise Reduction effect. If it's loud banging noises you can try http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Pop_Mute . See here for how to install Nyquist plugins: ...

Re: Cutting the exact same amount of several tracks
Have you tried selecting the noise at the start of the guitar track, CTRL + SHIFT + K to select in all tracks, then Delete? That keeps synchronisation if you had it before.

What is your Audacity recording device as selected in Device Toolbar?
Have you tried a cold boot? Windows key, Power button, hold SHIFT and click on Shut down.

Re: why file not found when I am looking at the file
okay. a block pops up now that says the project is missing 140 .au blockfiles. probably due to a bug system crash or accidental deletion. It says i can choose between to close program or treat missing audio as silence 1 time, and that if I choose either of these things I can try to find and restore...

Re: Save and open again
I looked and looked for the post I made yesterday so I just have to post again. Your post is here http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=94879 and the answer was to save a project. As a new user your posts don't appear until a moderator has approved them. When you have made more pos...

Re: problems recording cassettes
Is that turntable a USB turntable? If so it may have line inputs for connecting a tape deck and you could record over USB.

Re: meter level control
We have not received any debug report, nor have you posted your audio device info, so we're in the dark about your devices. If you are recording vinyl with a USB turntable, why do you have a receiver connected to the turntable? Is the receiver to listen to what the turntable is playing? As I said, r...

Re: How to convert MP3 / AAC to FLAC with quality increase?
Everyone's conception of "perfect" is different. Perhaps it would help if you looked through the list of effects in the Manual to learn what they do, then experimented. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/index_of_effects_generators_and_analyzers.html . As we said, if you attach a sampl...

Re: Mouse scroll/ Track Selection
When I click a track, a lot of times the click is treated as a double-click and the whole track is selected. Any way to disable the double-click functionality? Not currently. Double-click is meant to select all the track or all the clip. When I scroll the mouse wheel over the left edge of a track, ...

Re: Installing Nyquist plug-ins
All the plugins that shipped with 2.1.2, except SC4, must have .ny extension at the end of their file name. The AU files are "Audio Unit" effects - Mac comes with a number of these as provided by Apple. They are in their own folder - either ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (user plug-in...
