Re: Will Audacity support multi-core processing?

I though exporting data and applying effects to it would take advantage of the 4 cores and 8 threads. Some effects are better suited to it than others (for example Equalization already processes each track independently so if you had four tracks and four cores each track could be processed on one c...

Re: SSD is a MUST-HAVE when using Audacity?

Audacity may have real-time preview of effects some time in the next year or so. I didn't mean a preview of an effect so I can have an idea of how it will sound. I meant change the speed or pitch instantly, without processing data. There is Time Tracks although you have to draw the curve first. It ...

Re: Audacity

Have you installed Pulse Audio Volume Control (pavucontrol)? If you are recording from a motherboard input it is best to use pavucontrol to choose the correct input.

Re: Getting distortion on audio recording - guitar and vocal

It's not distortion - it's severe dropouts. Do I take it this isn't a USB device but the dock is installed to a PCI Express card on the computer? Exactly what inputs of the device are you connecting to? Describe where all the cables connect to. What audio host and recording input are you choosing in...

Re: Will Audacity support multi-core processing?

Will Audacity use the 8 threads anytime soon when processing data? It will save a lot of time, almost x4 times. See the bottom of this answer http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=254193#p254193 . In general, developers say that running the same task in multiple threads will only come slowl...

Re: SSD is a MUST-HAVE when using Audacity?

I miss here some real-time effects, something like change the pitch on-the-go, without processing, and the same with speed. Audacity may have real-time preview of effects some time in the next year or so. I use also Audacity when I wanna sync a spanish audio film file to an english movie. I extract...

Re: How many time Audacity should take to startup?

Audacity is slow fitting long projects to the window and zooming in/out Why this happens?. Why you actually need a SSD to do this with large projects in order to do it fast? Audacity is probably slower than it should be because it is not very efficient redrawing the waveform when there is a lot of ...

Re: Newbie needs some advice on settings

2) export AAC versions for use in iPod/iPad when travelling. Again would like the "best" quality possible. My first few attempts resulted in messages telling me that the initial bitrates and requested compression rates didn't "match" Does it really say that? I suspect it says th...

Re: Second recorded track is pitch shifted one semitone down

Audacity as shipped does not work with ASIO drivers. Pitch changes are usually sample rate issues. Use the same sample rate for project rate, track rate and in any Windows or Pod settings. Use the Pod for playback as well as recording if it is a playback device. See Why is my new track out of sync w...

Re: failed to start because of side-by-side configuration

Formatting the drive or reverting to original state caused the problem. Please see http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... html#14001 .
