Re: Conversion
Bit rate in WAV is number of channels * bit depth * sample rate. So I presume your current WAV is mono, 8-bit depth, 8000 Hz. Your request for "8 to 16 kbps" does not make sense. It can only be one bit rate. The only viable solution is likely to be 16 kbps (mono, 4-bit format, probably ADP...

Re: audacity input volume
What happens if you turn the Audacity input volume up on the Windows 8.1 machines? There is no direct correlation between the input volume and the -1/+1 linear you will achieve in the blue waves, but 0.3 is not high. Also is there any boost for the mic in Windows Sound that you might not have turned...

Re: Selecting the Space Between Clips
I should have added that the area is empty. If I double-click the whole track is selected. The Boundary Snap Guides should work with white space if Snap To in Selection Toolbar is "Off". If Snap To is "On" then mouse drags (and clicks) will only snap to physical boundaries where...

Re: Audacity Blue Screen of Death
And in Device Toolbar you really have WASAPI host selected and the microphone input selected? If so, I can only assume your audio drivers are broken so that is confusing Audacity. Gale No, actually my audio host = Windows DirectSound with Microphone input. If I change to WASAPI the microphone input...

Extrapolating from "Eclipse" that you are on Windows, try reading Developing On Windows - Audacity Wiki .

Re: no sound on mp3 playback and it switches my default audi
This is expected as per http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_playback.html#usb . You seem to have found the solution already but you may need to restart Media Player so that it realises the Realtek built-in sound device is now the default playback device and not the turntable. I suggest that whi...

Re: Audacity Blue Screen of Death
OK, I don't have any external audio devices and am using the motherboard audio (just the same as 2.0.4 when I had problems with WDM-KS) Here's the result of the Help -> Audio Device Info Thanks, Dennis. Conexant is a common device. It's possible you do not have the correct or latest drivers for it....
