Re: Audacity Freezing Up
I don't know what the problem is, maybe it's a driver. We are recording from a presonus mixer directly into the mic port on the pc. This isn't going to help you with your current problem, but the mic input is a bad idea! The output from a mixer is line level, which is about 100 times as strong as m...

Re: Export to Mono AAC
The FFmpeg page about AAC encoding has moved. The current page is here: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/AAC Interesting they consider there that libvo-aacenc is the worst quality of all the AAC encoders and the native FFmpeg AAC encoder almost the best. A few years ago the native encoder was re...

Re: Help cleaning up LP rip vocal 'S' sounds like 'SH'.
The "rumor" is that too light of a tracking force can damage the grooves as well as too much force. The experts seem to prefer running at (or near) the cartridge's maximum, rather at the minimum. That depends on the vintage of the cartridge/arm and of the record too. A Garrard 301 with a ...

Re: Export to Mono AAC
For what it's worth, exporting a mono track from Audacity as M4A (AAC) on Debian Wheezy, produces a mono file. I tried it with the Audacity 2.0.5 package on Ubuntu 14.04. Nautilus properties says the exported file is stereo, and MediaInfo says is it is 2 channels "originally mono". FFmpeg...

Re: combining multiple audio tracks into one track
Not a feature request, if I understand correctly.
See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... .html#join . Or press F5 and drag the tracks to follow each other. F1 to go back to Selection Tool.
Or Edit > Select > All then Tracks > Align Tracks > Align End to End.

Re: tracks loading as hot
The red "clip indicator" lines on the waveform do not mean that the audio IS clipped. They warn that the peak level is 0 dB or greater so it "may" be clipped. Agreed, but the Manual implies the red line means outside -1/+1 http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/view_menu.html#show...

Re: Latest Audacity for iMac
Sorry for the delay Steve and Koz.It worked! Now I have to see if there's any remedy for that delay feeling whenever I move the mouse, insert silence, fade in or out, cut, paste, etc. It never happened on the PC.Everything seemed to be happening in real time as opposed to what's going on with any editin...

We can't help you with no information to go on. Did any settings in Audacity change, like your project rate or Aud...
