Re: combining multiple audio tracks into one track
Thanks to all who posted in reply to my question. I will work on this over the next days and see if I can put your good advise into action. I'm sure I will have more questions. Thanks again. Spark You're welcome. If your questions are about other than joining up tracks, please post a new topic in t...

Re: problem playing sound
We can't see or hear your computer, obviously. So this noise only occurs playing MP3's in Audacity, right? What device is mplayer playing to? Is it possible to record the playback noise then post an audio sample ? Are you using too high a project rate? Sometimes 48000 Hz is best on Linux. Are your A...

Re: Name this forum!
Audiobook Production I like that. OK. Obviously I do, as I suggested it a few posts ago. I still think that we will also need to tweak the forum description. I had suggested a title of "Audiobook Production" with subtitle "Community blog for recording and editing of audiobooks"....

Re: Export to Mono AAC
Unfortunately, using Audacity's built in export options provide no control over the quality settings for AAC export (the quality slider in "Options" does nothing). The version of FFmpeg in Debian Wheezy is rather old and not officially supported by Audacity 2.0.6 I think the "unsuppo...

Re: Name this forum!
"Audiobook Producers" looks better to me (taking the term "producer" in the general sense). Perhaps also changing the description (suggestions?) In some cases, the author and producer may be the same, surely? Or are audiobooks always of long-dead authors? Yes "Audiobook Pro...

Re: Name this forum!
Fine, then, let's call it Shirley. Or we could call it "Paul L". ;) My point was if "Audiobook Authors" turns off those who are not authoring audiobooks, won't "Audiobook Producers" do almost the same? Describe what you do with audiobooks. I don't know, so I'm just ask...

Re: Subdividing a long file
See this post about the dangers of running an XP machine connected to the internet, now Microsoft no longer provides security updates: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 76#p254876 .

Re: Subdividing a long file
Audacity does not yet support markers in WAV files (very few WAV players do) and it would not help the CD burner. I suggest you label interesting points in the long track that would be useful to jump to, then export multiple WAV files based on those label points. Burn the CD with Disk At Once and no...

Re: Audacity Freezing Up
I will try switching to the Blue mic port, and see if that is any better. Our mixer only has a firewire interface. We were able to close audacity and restart it, after it happened and then it recorded fine. Could it be the audacity drivers that are faulty or the sound card drivers? To me it just se...

Re: Name this forum!
I think "Audiobook Producers" is the more appropriate term. I read authors' works -- I don't presume to call myself the author! So you are editing audiobooks for more enjoyable listening, without plosives and so on? If so could you be even called a "producer"? You aren't the ori...
