Re: not responding
Are you actually using current Audacity 2.0.5? See the pink panel at the top of the page. For me (Windows 8.1, Audacity 2.0.6) Audacity does not freeze if I delete an AUP file that is open in Audacity, and I would not expect it to. If I edit the project, Audacity is writing the unsaved changes to th...

Re: problem playing sound
Is the reason I need to set this to 200 a known bug? If you had it set to something unreasonable like 20 before, no it's not a bug. We have not heard the problem for ourselves so we don't know what it is. Assuming I keep this setting, is it possible to combine two mp3s using audacity into a single ...

Re: Random Color Screen Crash
Well I fixed the whole windows not booting properly by doing the following: Reinstall audio drivers on integrated gfx, then reinstalling gpu drivers. (as always, properly cleaned out old drivers first) However, removing nvidia hd audio drivers and unticking it during driver reinstallation did not f...

Re: Name this forum!
But you're right about DRM, it would make editing an oddball case I guess. That said, Librivox audiobooks are not DRM'ed - I just got an MP3 audiobook from there and pulled the first track into Audacity. Append Import would be handy to edit the lot as one piece. :) That would be a topic for "A...

Re: Name this forum!
Not cast in stone, so feel free to continue discussing and it can be updated again if necessary. For now, I've updated it to: Audiobook Production Community Forum - Narrating and Producing Audiobooks. I certainly think it's an improvement, and I agree (for now) it should be "Audiobooks" n...

Re: Name this forum!
You QA people just love thinking up the unlikeliest possible use cases, now don't you ? :-) OK so put those oddball people in Audio Processing then. I'm one of them. The only time I ever bought an audiobook, I edited it. Gale No kidding? There is DRM protecting the books I get via Audible. I could ...

Re: Window 7 Audacity 2.0.5 No USB Audio Codec!
Wow. There must be a better product than this. It doesn't work. Plain and simple. Audacity does not make RCA to USB converter cables, even if Audacity came with the cable. If you paid a few cents for the converter cable, you may have got what you paid for. I don't see how something so simple could ...

Re: Help on recovering long recording with corrupt .aup file
17 GB of data is far too much for 1 hour 45 minutes of unedited recording. At 44100 Hz 32-bit float stereo that should be only about 2 GB. So either you were recording at an excessively high rate or you were editing the recording extensively. What does the sample rate say in the corrupted AUP file? ...
