As I understand it, DrDave does not even have to run Audacity for the problem to happen. I don't think Audacity does any querying of the sound device during installation.

What application exactly did you install an ASIO driver for? Was that the ASIO4ALL driver or an ASIO driver specific to the application? Where does that "Unspecified" image of USB Audio CODEC come from? Can you post a full screenshot of that? Also could you post the contents of Help > Audi...

Do you have more than one Audacity audio track? Are they region labels or point labels? Obviously audio before the first label will not be exported if you have Export Multiple set up that way.
