Robert, all you should need to do is open audacity-vs2008_OBSOLETE.sln in VS2008. That's all I'm doing until the migration dust is settled. I don't think the situation with VS2013 is clear enough yet to document it.

Re: Error message - check recording device / project sample
I have just upgraded to version 2.0.6 (although got same message on previous version) and this is the first time I have tried to do this. I am using a Dell Vostro laptop running Window 7 with IDT HD Audio CODEC on Stereo Mix setting. In the control panel it states it is running on 2 channel, 16 bit...

Re: Excess gain & distortion
if you are recording from vinyl, I suppose you are using a pre-amplifier of some kind. Celticpilgrim is using a USB turntable. So assuming (s)he is connecting the turntable to the computer using the USB cable, then the phono amp stage is included in the signal chain. This would be the normal way to...

Re: Chaptering a MP3 record
You can try http://id3v2-chap-tool.sourceforge.net/ but don't expect many MP3 players to recognise the chapters. Also that application requires Java which is a potential security risk unless you keep Java updated.

Re: editing noisy MP3 tracks
After normalizing ,( and I need to do it to -7db), , if I go and do amplify ( without clipping) I am really back to the same levels as before i normalized the file. Then don't Amplify, unless you set New Peak Amplitude to -7 dB. Do you need to use Amplify after Normalize? Does this help: Amplify an...

Re: Wha'd I do?
I have a basic Logitech USB headset (with mic). In 2.0.5 (i.e. yesterday), if the headset was plugged in, I got audio through the headset and the mic was active. Today, the headset is ignored (although Audacity does seem to be picking up a signal from the mic). Try Transport > Rescan Audio Devices....

Re: Wha'd I do?
From within the programme, the result is the same whether I go to <file><Recent> or <File><Open>. (They're both shortcuts to the same file, I assume.) That is, the file is listed but trying to open it gives the "invalid or corrupt" message. Then if that AUP file still exists, please attac...

Re: 2.0.6 bug (windows)
This started with 2.0.6, it was working good in 2.0.5. Now, when I import a file, do some work on it, export it to a new file, and close it... it doesn't fully close in the operating system (Windows 7). That is, I can't delete the original file until I completely exit Audacity. I get "The proc...

Re: What are "EQ Curves for old recordings" for?
EQ curves that make a song sound as though it was recorded in the twenties or thirties. So you want recordings to sound as if you heard them in the 20's or 30's, without the noise that would have inevitably been in such recordings? There are too many imponderables here. What EQ was used to record t...

Re: Copy/Paste tracks between projects, losing quality
As you can see, I've pasted into a track that matches the properties of the source track. You can't do anything else - the sample rate of the paste is respected, whatever the project rate of that project window. What exactly is the complaint? Is it that the intro_2 sounds worse? That is totally exp...
