Re: Slow startup since 2.0.3
Started a new topic. Why Audacity 2.0.3 starts in 2 seconds, while 2.0.5 , 2.0.6 need 40 seconds? I guess that its due to Norton realtime automatic scan, very good until 2.0.3 Does this slow launch occur every time or only the first? If you exclude Audacity from Norton scanning, does that speed up l...

Re: Automate open/export
This Chain approach seemed to work for some files, but not others. In fact, the files it didn't fix couldn't even be fixed by what I thought was my bulletproof fallback: manually export the file in Audacity. Here's an example of a file that seems unfixable for iphone streaming: http://www.zerogravp...

Have replaced it and did manage to record 80 minutes worth of music Well done. :) have downloaded the Manual on transfer to CD.Am a bit unsure as how to exactly save the file. Re: Automate open/export
the files weren't fixed and the datestamps weren't changed. Gale: What type of Chain commands should I use so that it simply does a new export of the file and saves over the original? Why does the Export command not do the same thing as manually opening and exporting an mp3? See http://manual.audac...

Re: Compiling FileDialog.h error wx/defs.h No such file
Probably Audacity is still looking for the locally installed widgets. You could try a more thorough removal of that. Have you tried sudo ldconfig to update the system for the removal? You can always configure Audacity to point to a specific wxGTK such as WX_CONFIG=/usr/local/bin/wx-config ./configur...

Re: Importing music mp3s into a main .aup track
Your advice on cutting & pasting a clip into the main track worked perfectly. Thanks. (To recap, I use Audacity 2.x with Mac OS X 10.9.4) I now have a problem with importing music clips. When I use File/Import/Audio to import a music mp3 a) The mp3 does not appear within the project as a separa...

Re: Mac 10.7,Audacity 2.0,5, and only Mono sound
Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording. That is functionally identical to Device Toolbar, so won't help if Device Toolbar only shows mono. What device exactly are you recording from? If the device does support stereo, open Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup. Configure the input for stere...

Re: Raise (amplify) the peaks
Some compressor plug-ins can be configured to expand, but I don't know of one off-hand... Maybe Audacity's compressor can do it... I don't know. No, it can't. There are probably free compressor/Expander VST plug-ins that will work with Audacity, I just don't know of any... You can try the Expander ...

Re: Notch filter missing from my Effects menu
2.0.5 is now obsolete. If you go to http://audacityteam.org/download/windows you can get the current 2.0.6. Download the installer, and half way through the installation process, enable the box to "Reset Preferences". This should fix all possible causes of the problem.
