Re: Drag&drop is weird

I wanted to drag a 1.5 Gb wave file to audacity, no biggie. Only problem, I dragged it from Total Commander which subsequently became inaccessible for the ~50 seconds it took to load the audio file. Same problem here with Windows Explorer & Windows 7 and a 1.3 gb wav file. What's actually inter...

Re: Any way to choose a bitrate for M4A files?

So is the option to set the "quality" for M4A files non-functional Yes. It's a limitation (bug) in the FFmpeg build, as described in the Audacity 2.0.6 release notes That one actually is a bug in Audacity and not in libvo-aac. If you use (external program) to export then you can specify t...

Re: Recording audio on 24bits/96khz with Audacity

If it mitigates the "illegality" of the audacity + asio distribution I tell you that I know the guy who compiled and build it for me. Strictly, it doesn't mitigate it (much). Even if he only gave the download URL to you and required a password that no-one else has, someone could intercept...

Re: Auto Duck?

Please try reading the Manual if you have forgotten how to use Auto Duck. Select the track(s) whose volume you want to modify Deselect the track that is to act as control track Place the tracks so that at least one of the selected tracks to be modified is above the unselected control track. Any othe...

Re: Help With The Vocal Removal Tool

If you want perfect removal you have to find the original multi-tracks then you can delete the voice track, otherwise you have to work with imperfect tools. Robert wrote a 2D Stereo Toolkit which you can use instead of Vocal Removal https://www.dropbox.com/s/tkonxx1njg1lzcu/rjh-stereo-tool.ny . Ther...

Re: crashing audacity

I have been using audacity 2.0.6.0 on my Mac mini without problems. Recently audacity crashed and when I want to start audacity now I get an error message that audacity is already running and that it is impossible to start the program twice without problems. I try to stop audacity and then it says ...

Re: Using audacity for audio to text transcription

The instructions seem perfectly clear to me. If you are not on Mavericks or Yosemite then Advanced Dictation is not available. Text will not appear as you speak and you will have to be online. If you cannot read French easily, you can change the language to English in Mac System Preferences. If you ...

Re: Recording audio on 24bits/96khz with Audacity

In my opinion we should not even be answering your questions. ;) You are using an outdated and illegal version of Audacity. If you compile Audacity yourself with ASIO support and do not distribute the build, then it is perfectly legal. ;) Alternatively if you want 24-bit recording and think you can ...

Re: Recording Sound from YouTube Videos.

I'm new at this game so please be patient with me. All I wish to do is to record the sound (music) from YouTube Videos. Why? You can download the videos, assuming you have copyright holders' permission to record in the first place. Then you get the audio and the video in the original quality. Use y...

Re: need to import metadata from .wav files

Audacity added support for both export and import of IPRD at the same time. The exported ID3 and LIST INFO tags are placed at the end of the file. Audacity 2.0.7-alpha on Ubuntu 13.10 sees the IPRD tag in a file exported by Audacity, as should 2.0.6. If it doesn't do so for you, then perhaps Audacit...
