Please be careful with XP. It is a security risk given Microsoft no longer supports XP with patches. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 76#p254876.

Re: Audacity no longer records anything
According to the Device Toolbar, you're trying to record from the internal CD player. Which is what you have to fix. Choose the Line-in to record from, if that is what you are connecting the tape deck to. "CD Player" inputs usually don't even have the wires connected to record anything. w...

Re: CANNOT RECORD STREAMING AUDIO
Every time I reformat my hard drive I go through the same thing, getting Audacity to record streaming audio. Every time you reformat your hard drive, you will probably need to reinstall the drivers for the built-in audio device. First, right click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of yo...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options
I don't know what Koz means, but Show Clipping still shows a red line when there is a run of only one clipped sample. I thought after the last discussion that 'one sample' thing bubbled up higher in the fixit list. It's an in-your-face measurement tool that, without putting too fine a point on it, ...

Re: Emphasis consistency and headers
I could be proved wrong but I doubt unbolding will help that purpose. I agree that un-bolding is unlikely to help that purpose, but it looks better. Let's try it like this for a while and see if it makes things worse. I lean slightly toward using bold My main consideration was using the same style ...

Re: crashing audacity
Audacity does not show up amongst the list of programs running on my Mac in Activity Monitor. Everyone assumed you saw the "Audacity is already running" message. If that is what you saw, Audacity *must* be visible in Activity Monitor, unless your OS X is completely broken. Did you try sor...

Re: Can the performance of Nyquist in Audacity be improved ?
Does CPU use and memory use go up dramatically, or is little memory used? There is also a Nyquist-in-Audacity problem with too much memory being used: http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87 http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/Nyquist-in-Audacity-crashes-with-long-sound-files-td238715.h...

Re: Emphasis consistency and headers
The purpose of the bolding was to get as many people as possible to state Audacity and OS version. I could be proved wrong but I doubt unbolding will help that purpose. What we want to do is change the background colour and text colour of the "rules" but there is a bug in the phbBB CSS whi...

Re: Audacity for EPEL 7 x86_64?
So I looked on the Audacity site, and no rpm for RHEL / CentOS / Oracle Unbreakable Linux 7, so I tried my hand at compiling from source, and the dependencies were an unmitigated mess... Then please post the complete configure and make log. Has anyone here managed to get Audacity up and running on ...

Re: need to import metadata from .wav files
To answer your question, the installed version of libsndfile on my PC is 1.0.25. After my previous post I remembered that I had seen a reference to libsndfile in the metadata which Audacity had appended to a file which I had exported as .wav. Although I don't use libsndfile, I looked it up, install...
