You didn't attach a screen shot. Here again is how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=64936 .

Re: Settings

tried to install the MP3 plug in but cant get it to work. Try following these steps to the letter: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame . If you are still stuck after that please say exactly how it does not work. Remember that we can't see your computer. Gale

Re: need to import metadata from .wav files

I'm happy to report that the problem is, or seems to be, solved. I played around with the Extended Import options of Audacity. They are now set exactly as you suggested for *.wav, except that the filter "WAVE, AIFF, and other uncompressed types" is at the top, before "FFmpeg-compatib...

Re: recording creative soundblaster and input level

i understand about downloading the file, i some times do that but if it's a movie or video and I just want the audio it becomes a little tedious with vlc. If you want the whole audio it is still better to download the video file. Install FFmpeg then drag the downloaded video file into Audacity - Au...

Re: Emphasis consistency and headers

If you look at http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f=46 I think "This forum is for Audacity 2.x on Windows" should be the same height as "Audacity 2.0.6 Released" in the Announcements. I set the first sentence of the rules to 120% and it is now the same height. The next s...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options

I'm also in the camp of people who want the sound meter peak flashers to automatically fade. In my world, they're only useful once per take. In the unlikely event they come on, I'm not going to start poking at the meters trying to remember where the reset is during an expensive sound shoot. Not hap...

Re: Sound quality bad when ripping albums in to MP3s

I finally had a chance to try this. First of all, the slider in Audacity shows a .05 while the slider in Windows shows 5. When I move one the other changes, so I think Windows doesn't show the decimal point. I don't have XP running at the moment, but on later Windows the scale is 0 to 100. Audacity...

Re: crashing audacity

I upgraded some time ago to a newer version of audacity and installing it did not remove my old files. So there was an audacity executable outside my audacity folder. It might be that here the problem originated. After the problems started I removed ALL the audacity files (for as far as that is vis...

Re: crashing audacity

It says: Audacity already started. Having two copies of Audacity running will lead to loss of data or to a crash etc. The only way to get rid of this message is to force a stop. (and Yes: NOW it is visible in Activity Monitor, but after forcing the stop it isn't anymore…) Good. That shows that Acti...

Re: Amplify function

I have over 500,000 digital music files and have recently gone to listening using headphones. Using the headphone audio controls is tedious, at best, so I am "equalizing" all the files. In other words, I open a file and use Effect > Amplify to adjust the amplification so that the New Peak...
