Re: How can I expand my level meter?
Things will probably get even better for the next release - the developers are experimenting with splitting the meters - using the latest alpha nightly releases I now have my record meter occupying about 3/4 of the window width and the recording one just 1/4 Also if nothing further is changed, ther...

Re: Editing in Real Time
i'm using this program mainly as a wave editor, like if i record something through my other DAWs that i want to manipulate/process further (i work with a lot of processed sounds and recordings for noise/drone/ambient textures and atmospheres) which i was told, and am learning myself, that Audacity ...

Re: Changing export directory
We can't tell you because you did not post in the Windows, Mac or Linux board and so we don't know what operating system you have. We also don't know what version of Audacity you have. Please see How to post a question on the forum . Audacity uses more or less the same file save dialogue that is sta...

Re: Audacity cannot open Dolby Digital audio file.
Is this the packaged version of Audacity from the Ubuntu Software Centre? Have you updated Ubuntu and the problem started after that? What exactly happens? If there is an error message, what does it say? Do these files have AC3 extension? Do files you have imported in the past still import correctly...

Re: Re-open file and little segments have zero sound
I am running Windows 7 and Audacity 2.0.6 (I had same problem on 2.0.4) I create a file (stereo) by recording a sound, importing a sound or copying a sound from another Audacity file. I then close the file and then re-open it later for further use only to find that segments (usually small) spread t...

Re: need to import metadata from .wav files
You are right, of course. I did not find a solution. It seems I was importing a file twice, once with one input filter and again, after removing that track, with another filter. I did not realize that Audacity was saving the first metadata it received even after deleting the track. I think that mis...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options
Not necessarily true, Steve. Show Clipping shows individual clipped samples that touch or exceed 0 dB but the meter requires four such consecutive samples. Of course you can find where the clip meter came on during a recording :? I doubt that koz sets his recording level anywhere near 0 dB. If the ...

Re: Expanded Preferences For SoX Resampling
Is the chart for Audacity 2.0.3 SRC at infinitewave.ca the Audacity "Best Quality" SRC setting? The passband and transition don't look like the SOX VHQ Linear Phase, which is more in line with the ideal settings shown for Audition and iZotope, most often touted as "excellent" be...

Re: Audacity doesn't recover the last project after crash
But maybe I'm not good enough to explain the problem because my native language is not english. I'm not interested in recovering unsaved changes. I'm only interested in running Audacity again. I can't do anything. No option is available. Audacity does nothing, just shows the modal window. No menu o...

Re: crashing audacity
Yes!!!!!!! :D Got it going! Audacity was NOT in my login and it did NOT load on startup. Checked both and that did not alter the problem. Got rid of al the audacity files as you suggested. (Had done so before and that did not help then…) Then I deleted the .cfg file as suggested and that did the tr...
