Re: Improved seeking
It works on Linux, though it's begging for extending the feature to allow scrolling to the left of the initial cursor position. If I understand what you mean, that was tried before http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/Seeking-behind-cursor-after-initiating-normal-playback-td2560661.html but later m...

Re: Sound quality bad when ripping albums in to MP3s
I look forward to hearing back from you. I haven't listened to those yet because I want to ask which method you recorded those MP3's with - standard turntable to mic input, or the ION turntable? Also, how tall were the blue waves when you first recorded them? Did you then do Amplify or Normalize, a...

Re: Editing in Real Time
i suppose by editing in real time i was referring to equalizers and compressors, like changing the settings to hear how they sound while the file is playing so you know if it works or not. Well, Audacity 2.0.7 will have that feature if it passes testing. After adjusting the settings, you apply them...

Re: can't import .au files from separate folder
Thanks for your time and help, I appreciate it. I went to the AUTOSAVE folder and changed the datadir to the current file location. I have the folder, have the .au files, but cannot get Audacity to import unless I do each of the individual files one at a time from the folder. That would be a huge t...

Re: How do I recover sound files broken in 6 second chunks?
I made some sound recordings in audacity which I deleted in error. The files last about an hour each. I have recovered the data for each of the files, comprising of lots of subdirectories, and further nested directories, reducing down to 6 second chunks of playable sound. I understand that the chun...

Re: Auto Duck - next challenge!
I believe the principles of Auto Duck have been explained numerous times in this thread. You can only have one control track, which must be unselected. You can select multiple tracks for ducking, which must be placed above the control track. If you choose to have sections of white space or silence i...

Re: Sound quality bad when ripping albums in to MP3s
The waveforms in your images look safe to me. What happens if you View > Show Clipping then View > Fit in Window? Do you see red vertical clipping lines? If not, you would need to upload the MP3 files somewhere so we can listen. Or export to WAV then the audio you get is the audio in the waveform. G...

Re: Audacity cannot open Dolby Digital audio file.
Please be aware that PPA builds are not official Audacity releases. There may be bugs. If VLC opens the file I suggest transcoding it to WAV with that application. If you want to make a bug report (which may be a bug against FFmpeg and not Audacity), please provide an example file and give the versi...

Re: can't import .au files from separate folder
Doesn't look like autosave routine is going to help. I'm looking for a way to simply import the orphaned .au files. There are a lot of them, but they seem to be in sequential order. One at a time just is not going to be practical. Unfortunately, doesn't look like entire contents of folders cannot b...

Re: can't import .au files from separate folder
Please be careful with XP. It is a security risk given Microsoft no longer supports XP with patches. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 76#p254876.
