Re: reset Preferences CFG file
Steve, we're talking specifically about the best way of resetting the .cfg file here. Yes, and you are basing your suggestion on the possibility of users upgrading to the new version, then downgrading to an obsolete version, and running into problems with the old version and expecting that resettin...

Re: How to set playback to PC speakers instead of input devi
when the Zoom is hooked up and I play back the track, the sound comes from the tiny speaker in the Zoom. Does anyone know how I can get it to come out of my PC sound system? Set the playback device in the 2.0.6 Device Toolbar to your PC. Note that Windows applications that cannot change their playb...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
I would feel it much cleaner to force restart of Audacity if you Reset Preferences within Audacity. I don't see why that would be necessary - except that if you did a full "factory reset" your toolbars would all jump around back to default positions and sizes. Would we offer an "Undo...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
in case the user goes back to 2.0.6 or previous I feel that I must complain about this negative design philosophy (which has come up many time previously). Steve, we're talking specifically about the best way of resetting the .cfg file here. I wasn't making a general plea for backward (let alone fo...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
David Bailes taught me a cute trick workaround which is to type %appdata% in the Windows Explorer address bar - and we plan to add that tip to the Manual's reset advice. Done. I have tested on XP and it works the same on that. What you say in the Manual: Depending on your privileges you may not hav...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
the big problem I found when user my "documentation user" account: no admin privileges, Windows standard defaults hidden folders/files hidden no file extensions shown i.e. a "civilian" Windows user. That default is the same for admin users too. The problem here is the instructio...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
Does this mean Ed that when you do your reset from Prefs, you don't force restart of Audacity? How I currently do it is to not have the reset done until Audacity exits. Other options exist, as I said before, the configuration class has very good tools for this sort of thing and, as long as no prefe...

Re: Nyquist error.
Vocoder requires stereo input (and left and right channels not to be split to separate tracks), as it says in the Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/vocoder.html.

Re: PC Volume balance gets reset on Audacity startup
Okay, I've tested the topmost build (audacity-win-r13582-2.0.7-alpha-10-nov-14). WDM-KS (no sound came out when i tested Audacity with a FLAC file) produces an error with the FiiO E10. Message says "Error while opening sound device. Please check the playback settings and the project sample rat...

Re: Error Saving Project Message
I have the track in suspense. I will export it as .wav. Will I be able to import the .wav file after restarting then save the project and create the MP3 file? Yes of course. If choosing a shorter AUP name or saving it closer to the top of the file structure does not help, then export. After exporti...
