Re: Unable to record

I have been successfully using Audacity for several years. I just installed 2.0.6 on my new windows 8 PC with exe installer. The record function does not work. The cursor flickers and remains at the start of the track. It will play existing recordings as normal. A message comes up as follows: "...

Re: Playback is garbled and doesn't progress

Try rebooting the computer.

If the problem persists, look in Audacity's "Recording" Preferences and make sure "Audio to buffer" is set high enough - it affects playback too. The default value is 100 milliseconds.

Re: deleting defined sections of audio

I'm surprised there is nothing that could simply measure the amplitude of the recording and delete audio which fails to exceed a threshold. Seems simple, but then again I don't know much about audacity. There is Truncate Silence . It detects audio that is below the threshold for at least the specif...

Re: Using a Climax Digital USB2.0 Audio Capture ACAP100

Audacity does not officially support Yosemite, nor does your device according to http://www.climaxdigital.co.uk/USB-20-Audio-Capture-transfer-analogue-audio-sources-to-digital-format . Are you connecting from the RCA outputs of the turntable? There is nothing to say apart from a little diagram in th...

Re: Stereo turns out as Monaural on audio CD

Stand alone stereo CD player. I thank you for your help but I've pretty much given up on this project after using (testing) and having to throw away about 12 CD-R disks. Try a pre-recorded CD you bought in the shops in the player, or rip the CD you burned to WAV and import the WAV into Audacity. Th...

Re: Question about sound quality with Audacity.

If you use the Zoom as an audio interface on Windows, you will only get 16 bit resolution in Audacity due to a limitation between Audacity and the Windows drivers. Just to add that while that is true of the current Audacity 2.0.6, if you use the Nightly Builds these include support for a more compl...

Re: Multi-track recording

my original question was really about recording multiple tracks at the same time and bringing them into Audacity. For example, say I am using four to six microphones or other inputs and recording a band. If I'm thinking correctly, I don't think I can import all those tracks at once into Audacity. I...

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing

Hi, I know this thread has developed a little beyond the first post, but I've always found that when exporting a track in Audacity changes the first 5 seconds into buzzing, it is because I have multiple tracks that start at different times. Now before I export anything with multiple tracks, I selec...

Re: Missing Block Data found in temp folder - how to recover

I am trying to recover three projects that got missing because of a force quit. I am using Audacity 2.05 on a Mac (OSX 10.8.5). Audacity crashes regularly It should not crash regularly, but we don't make a "2.05" version (the current series is 2.0 then a dot and a third number). You can g...
