Re: No need to record. Just want to listen!

1. How can I play the music on my computer without recording? 2. Where are the music files stored that I have recorded? 1) You can play the turntable through your computer without using Audacity. Try the free LineIn app from Rogue Amoeba: https://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/ If you prefer to conti...

Re: ripping individual songs from CDs from tapes

I don't think Windows Media Player understands ReplayGain and I think iTunes only respects SoundCheck. Windows Media Player (12) has its own system - they call it "Automatic Volume Leveling". Apparently it is accessed via: "Enhancements > Crossfading and Auto Volume Leveling" Th...

Re: ripping individual songs from CDs from tapes

MP3Gain and WAVEgain, actually change the file-volume so it works with any player or player-software. If you are making an audio CD, you'd choose WAVEgain. That was one question I had. ReplayGain just adds a loudness tag inside the soundfile, right? Do all CD burners pay attention to that? Is it av...

Re: Problems recording bass, both direct in and mixing

You should not change the information in earlier posts. It makes following your problem crazy difficult. You can edit your posts when you have made a few more of them. If you do edit your posts, please write EDITED at the top and/or write something in the "Reason for editing" below the me...

Re: I enter SHIFT+SPEEDPLAY. There is cycled play?

Anonymous mouse wrote:"buggy stop" means that Audacity doesn't make cycled play.
If you want to loop play speed-changed audio, you can use Effect > Change Speed... or Effect > Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift... to change the audio data and waveform.

Or you can try Time Tracks.

Re: Закрытие программы без подтверждения

Thanks for an answer, but why not just add one more checkbox in Confirmations dialog meaning "Closing a program without asking"? It's so annoying, I have to open and close Audacity ten times a day, and it got me to confirm closing every time. Any decent program should have such choice in ...

Re: Error message when trying to use the microphone

I use a headset that has green and pink plugs. When I turn the volume up, nothings changes. I had already done the "show disabled devices" thing before, and it didn't change anything. Maybe it's because the headphones are very old (like 10 years)? Obviously we cannot see your computer. Ha...

Re: Audacity group on Soundcloud

So I have no choice but to remove my track? :( I thought I can just tell that it was originally by the artist and I dont intend to steal it. Awww As I understand it - I am not a lawyer- a karaoke version of the original song with the vocals removed would be a remix. For a remix, you need permission...

Re: Compressor Noise Floor Question

Audio below the noise floor setting is processed. The previous description in the Manual which I think is accurate said: Sets the signal level below which the compressor holds the gain constant while waiting for the signal level to come back up above the set level. This is mainly useful when compres...
