Re: Playback

The only playback device is Realtek High Definition Speakers. The volume id set to 100%. Are those speakers where you are trying to listen? Right-click in that window in empty space and choose "Show disabled devices" then right-click again and choose "Show Disconnected Devices"....

Re: Playback

Make sure Audacity is still set to
Host: MME
Recording device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input
Playback device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output

Post the Help > Audio Device Info... again with Audacity set as above.

Re: Echo or Tin Sound for Voice Recordings

See if there is still more bass in the headset recording on Win 7 if you can reduce its level. I don't think there is. The Snowball mic records in much better quality (and with more bass) on both machines when heard through good speakers . If the complaint is that you want it to sound like telephone...

Re: Recovering .au files after crash

Here is the crash report: Audacity_2014-11-19-115753_Ericks-MacBook-Pro.crash Thanks for that. The crash seems to be to do with the Snap To checkbox at the bottom of the Audacity window. Had you enabled that box or were you changing it when Audacity crashed? If you get the latest 2.0.6, Snap To has...

Re: No Sound

I don't exactly remember what I was using Audacity for at the beginning but I do know I had to change the setting to WASAPI. Ion had me change that setting to MME, check the boxes in the top 2 selections after clicking edit then then preferences (overdub & playthrough), then use the drop down m...

Re: Echo or Tin Sound for Voice Recordings

So as I hear it, the Snowball has more bass on either XP or 7 but is better quality than the headset. The headset has less bass on either XP or 7 and is worse quality than Snowball. The Win 7 recording is too loud, so clips, which is not unexpected because Windows 7 tends to add more gain to USB aud...

Re: Error: not well formed (invalid token) at line 1340

This seems one of those cases where the AUP file did not complete saving, so is truncated. Did Audacity or this project seem to close normally when you last closed it? Did you power off the instant you saved the project? The only way I think we'll open the project is to remove from the AUP file the ...

Re: Record Autosave Feature

Re Task Scheduler: as a long time Win 7 home user, I made my first attempt this week to use that feature. It was a disaster. The attached image file shows what happens when I attempt to open the 'program'; that popup window is following by two more such windows with other warning statements. I've m...
