Re: Audacity recorder timer

1. Is there any place where Audacity shows the length timewise of an audio file without having to save it first? For example, I deleted a 5 minute segment using the start & stop set points at the bottom of the screen, but I can't find any way to determine what the former & new lengths are. ...

Re: Record level has to be set very low 0.04

Exactly - it is an assumption, and yes it has some logic to it. But you presented it as a hard fact with an exact dB modification level based on one developer's report with two cheap (un-named) devices. My "assumption" is regarding "why" Microsoft decided to do it. The "har...

Re: File dts HD 8ch not compatible

Thanks for the file. I can confirm ffprobe (the FFmpeg analysis tool) sees the file as 5:1 Duration: 00:05:38.60, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1535 kb/s Stream #0:0: Audio: dts (DTS-HD MA), 48000 Hz, 5.1(side), fltp, 1536 kb/s Assuming the file is encoded correctly, I suspect the reason is that the two...

Re: Yosemite

We've attempted to fix Audio Unit support on Yosemite. Audio Units should also support real-time preview and user and factory presets. Testing and feedback would be highly appreciated. The changes will be available in the next Nightly Build (that is, 26 November 2014 03:15) from the top of http://ww...

Re: Yosemite

I literally can't get Audacity to run properly on Yosemite: when I press the record button, it will record for about one second, then stop, and may or may not start again! If you have a selection lasting one second Audacity will by default record for one second. Have you tried Audacity > Preference...

Re: Suppress folders ending in _data for OPEN, SAVE, etc...

You can alternatively do a view per group by type). The *.aup files will naturally appear first. That doesn't work for me. The AUP files are listed at the end whether sorted ascending or descending. The only way I can see the AUP files first in the window is to sort by date modified, descending. Gale

Re: Suppress folders ending in _data for OPEN, SAVE, etc...

I actually came up with a more creative solution which really solves multiple problems. I'm not sure how this will play out long term but I will give it a try for now. In a nutshell, I wrote a program in AutoIT which loops thru my projects directory and does the following: Remove _data from all dir...

Re: File dts HD 8ch not compatible

As explained already, we can do nothing without an example file. MediaInfo is confused about whether the file is six or eight channels too. I already suggested two solutions. Use a different demux tool, or try demuxing to WAV. If you think Audacity is to blame, use FFmpeg standalone to convert the f...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file

Is this a Linux only bug? Apparently not. Waxcylinder has also reported the problem of duplicate entries for Nyquist plugins. I've not seen the bug yet. Perhaps I am deleting pluginregistry.cfg too often, but I have only been doing that in the last couple of days. as long as the user chooses to res...
