Re: Sound disappears from computer after opening Audacity
Do the reset of preferences in the installer and leave the host in Audacity Device Toolbar on MME. Leave the project rate bottom left of Audacity on 44100 Hz. What exactly are you trying to record, using what device? If the error opening persists, have a look at http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/...

Re: Error opening device and sound disappears
I suggest you work through http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#sound_device . If you are still stuck, please tell us exactly what sound device you are trying to play to (make and model number if it is an external device). Are you using that same sound device to play sounds in applic...

Re: Super Audio CD files *.dsf
Thanks Gale, but I canot import *.dsf files even having instaled the library you indicated. Sorry. DSF is indicated as supported by FFmpeg here https://www.ffmpeg.org/general.html but looking at the FFmpeg Changelog , DSD decoding did not come in until version 2.3. I obtained http://ffmpeg.zeranoe....

Re: a question about a message
Yes, but what does Koz suggests happens? Users often import files into Audacity then delete them, or press the red X on the window thinking that saves the recording. In those cases, Audacity has to ask.benbernie wrote:gale im with koz on this..

Re: Metadata Tags
I was writing while Steve was, but I'll post my reply "as is". 1. Can the field titles in the "Edit Metadata Tags" be customized? My project involves converting hundreds of non-published analog music cassettes to .wav files, and, usually, the field names "Track Title," ...

Re: Problem with garbled crackling vocal
The recording becomes crackly because of dropouts and disjointed waveforms where there is still a waveform - zoom in to see it. So it's a recording problem. Upgrade to 2.0.6 http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Make sure you download and install (or reinstall) the audio drivers for your comput...

Re: Export to WAV doesn't save complete recording
FLAC exports on Windows are limited to 2 GB in Audacity 2.0.5.DVDdoug wrote:If you want to stick with a lossless format, try FLAC. The compression will make create a smaller file, and as far as I know, there are no size limits.
2.0.6 uses a later version of libflac and doesn't have that limitation.

Re: connected keyboard with laptop vista
OK I missed those - too far down, given Firefox Page Down seems to jump back to the overview before I see those.steve wrote: My guess is that the correct drivers are those labelled "Windows Driver 2.23.0".
I can see those drivers if I drag the scrollbar down.

Re: Ideas for new features
I think Steve meant to set a custom shortcut for Loop Play if you need to (but not SPACE) and then use SPACE to stop normal play and Loop Play. I agree, but what's the point to set a different keyboard shortcut just to stop the Loop Play? Why don't trigger it with just one key? We can always record...
