Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
let's think to a more complex scenario, like multitracking from four different sources: two vocals from two separate mics plus a guitar from two mics in XY stereo configuration. When it comes to mixing may I work with mono and stereo tracks? Please forgive the dumb question, I'm sitll at year Zero ...

Re: Can I have a stereo track from one microphone?
Indeed there is no need for step 3. I suggested to Mix and Render after any pan purely to prove that this will make a stereo track when you export.steve wrote:Let me give you an easier way:
1) Record in mono.
2) Pan the track however you like, or leave it centred.
3) There is no step 3.

Re: Keyboard shortcuts plain not working
Try resetting Preferences completely by 1) Close Audacity 2) delete the audacity.cfg file (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/preferences.html#reset) 3) Restart Audacity. To be 100% precise, Steve meant Quit Audacity there. Exactly what keyboard are you using and how does it connect to the computer...

Re: Exported WAV file only plays first minute
DVDdoug correctly analyzed this problem. The 32-bit WAV file was somewhat over 4GB. Choosing 16-bit output created a smaller file, which played properly. Deleting some of the initial audience noise also reduced the file size enough to stay under the 4GB limit. Perhaps Audicity could check for this ...

Re: lame
You can't use arbitrary versions of the LAME encoder downloaded from anywhere. If you don't like the idea of installing LAME in Program Files, get the file "libmp3lame-win-3.99.3.zip" file from http://lame.buanzo.org/#lamewindl then extract the ZIP file where you want. Gale im on audacity ...

Re: Timer Record Not Working
Thanks Peter. I'll give RC2 or RC3 a try when I have some time, hopefully this weekend, and report back. If I see the problem, I'll shoot a 20 second video or so and post it to Youtube to see. Thanks but there is no need to bother, unless it is the only way to describe what you mean by "fidget...

Re: Metadata Editor
"Application" is like a "program" on older Windows. "Folder" is sometimes also referred to as a "directory". Did you install Audacity to one or more "Audacity" folders in /Applications? If so, open each of those folders in turn. Open Finder > Prefere...

Re: Can't import .m4a made using Quicktime into Audacity
Reinstalling Audacity never resets its settings on Mac. If you want to reset settings, quit Audacity, open Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder and type or paste: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ In the "audacity" folder, delete the "audacity.cfg" file. You don't need FFmpeg o...

Re: Idiots guide to Audacity
Make sure you have Audacity 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows . Then have a good read of http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/recording_with_usb_turntables.html . To get you started: Set your Audacity recording device in Device Toolbar to the USB Audio CODEC for the turntable and...
