Re: static when adding opening sound
When I said it is difficult to pin down, I meant that it is difficult to find in the code why it is happening, and only on Macs. It is pretty well guaranteed to happen on Mac, as I understand it. I can create a project in one minute that demonstrates it. Sometimes the buzzing is loud, sometimes it ...

Re: Audacity works different on 2nd PC
So where are you playing the song you want to record - Windows Media Player? YouTube?
Have you tried turning the volume of the song down in the player?
The WASAPI recording level is fixed on the input side, so adjusting the Audacity input slider won't help.

Re: recording vocals from mixer
You could also use something like the Behringer UCA202 USB interface to sit between your mixer and the computer. Monitor in the mixer, send the master mixer output to the UCA and set the UCA as Audacity's playback and recording device.

Re: AUDACITY 2.0.6,LAME AND FFmpeg ON DRIVE D:
I was able to create a new folder in My Music on drive D: and save Audacity 2.0.6 in that folder. Before and after I started to run Audacity 2.0.6, I could not see any pathway to direct the program to drive D: or to D:/Program Files. If you installed or pasted Audacity into D: then that is where it...

Re: Adjusting Levels - I am at my wits end!
I am connected using the did USB cable. Then try the red and white cables, if it has those. Can you change the cartridge on this turntable? If it has a cheap ceramic cartridge, replacing it with a magnetic cartridge will reduce the output volume (and wear your records less). It does not give me the...

Re: Singles vs albums
I thought I'd found a solution, with AUDACITY, for (original question) "how do I compile singles to work like an album?"! Kos, you asked for the 'long version' of my situation - is that the reason it's taking so long to get a response? You were real fast with the admonishments on my lack ...

Re: Distorted / Limiting Recording
Hi, I have been using Audacity for a year or two on my old Win 7 laptop with no problems but I have just upgraded to a new laptop with Win 8.1 and I installed the latest version of Audacity. Now when I try to record anything the recording is un intelligible with extreme distortion and extreme limit...

Re: Clicking black "split line" auto-merges. Turn off?
I don't think that we can work with the tab key as an alternative. Firstly, each combination needs shift for a backwards motion since we have only one key instead of left/right. Secondly, Ctrl+Tab (import audio) and Ctrl+Shift+Tab (create split) are already assigned (they are doubling conventional ...

Re: Clicking black "split line" auto-merges. Turn off?
So now you've changed your mind and don't want TAB to move to the next/previous clip boundary? What does that mean? [...] I don't understand why you are reiterating that my most recent proposal differs from my original proposal. I mean, I thought you strongly wanted TAB to do move to the next bound...

Re: Clicking black "split line" auto-merges. Turn off?
Mac's have an OPTION key which is similar to ALT on Windows and Linux, except that it is not normally used as a shortcut modifier.... On Windows and Linux, we commonly have "Ctrl", "Shift" and "Alt" available as modifier keys. Does Mac have three commonly used modifier...
