Re: reset Preferences CFG file
So where are we going with the single button in Prefs, as per Ed's patch? I've tested it on all three platforms. Re: Effect High pass filter with Q
Did we decide not to make a note about that in the Manual pages for High Pass and Low Pass? I guess the problem may be explaining what Q does or why you might want to enable it.steve wrote:If you want to enable the Q setting, this is the code that you need

Re: blank parts of recording
I've never so far recorded anything and saved it as a project. I'm normally recording from the radio and just saving (i.e. exporting) as an mp3 file for later listening, so I've not seen any need to save as a project. In your experience, does saving as a project really make such a difference as com...

Are you on Windows Vista or later? See the pink panel at the top of the page.
If you are on Vista or later, set Windows to record in stereo:

Re: Loud feedback on empty tracks?
Audacity doesn't officially support Yosemite yet, although the latest alpha builds have a fix for Apple Audio Units not working in Audacity.incandenZ wrote:I am running OS X 10.10.1 on a macbook air currently.
I think there could be some flakiness around Audacity importing and exporting on Yosemite.

Re: Click track markers
You can detect the beat by ear. Most pop music has a 4/4 time signature, so put the cursor in Audacity at a strong beat and select an area of track containing four quarter-note (crotchet) pulses (that is, an area up to the next strong beat). Note the length of the selected area in seconds as given i...
