Re: Problems batch converting stereo to mono
Audacity is the only free tool I trust to sum properly to mono, and I have 123 wav files I need to process for some research. I tried the chain tool with stereotomono only at first and applied to the files in question, and although audacity seems to have undertaken all the processing no changes are...

Re: Edit Chains dialog does not add the command[SOLVED]
If it's so brilliantly implemented then why does it surface so often in the forums?? I never said it was brilliantly implemented. I said it was "a little unintuitive". It does not come up as a complaint all that often, but I can't agree that removing the text from the Chain window will he...

Re: How to upgrade Audacity 1.3.13 to 2.0.6
What happens if you play a song in Windows Media Player with the HDMI output as default playback device in Windows Sound? Does the TV get the song audio with a) laptop screen only b) duplicated screens or c) HDTV only? If possible, can you grab the information from Help > Audio Device Info... top of...

Re: How to upgrade Audacity 1.3.13 to 2.0.6
As far as basic operational use, is there a big difference between 1.3.13 and 2.0.6 versions? The reason I ask is because, when I plug in the HDMI cable and add a HDTV to my laptop. (duplicate screen mode) For some reason the 1.3.13v does not detect audio, once I switch to laptop screen only, 1.3.1...

Re: Help recording mic and computer sounds with Audacity 2.0
A virtual or physical cable to plug only the song into the mic input would seem to be a much better theoretical solution. No, not really. Then the far end will not be able to hear you speak and they will not be able to hear guests. Better wording: I meant, for a two-party call, mix the song into th...

Re: Edit Chains dialog does not add the command[SOLVED]
Disregard my prior post, it does work. It's just incredibly bad GUI design. The reason why people scuffle with this is because the "Edit Chains" pane shows "Chain (Double-Click or press SPACE to edit)". That is incorrect advice! The individual steps shouldn't be double-clicked Y...

Re: Help recording mic and computer sounds with Audacity 2.0
Before you get all excited, Stereo Mix contains all the sounds playing on the computer... including the incoming voice from the far end. That means without a lot of tricks, the far voice is going to go back to them after the delays of two pathways and one computer. That's one of the things I was tr...

Re: Waves DeBreath plugin
Just to post what Leland has worked out so far, that Audacity does not directly support the Waves VST-shell DLL feature. Without that Audacity won't load DeBreath. Leland is trying to add VST-shell support to Audacity.

Re: Crackling playback, Mac OSX Yosemite
Just want to share that I had crackling noises when I played back files in Audacity 2.0.6 (and 5 as well). It didn't matter whether I recorded them in Audacity or in another program - and the noises weren't there when played back in Amadeus or iTunes or any other program. So it is merely a playback...

Re: Wave's DeBfreath plugin
Does anyone know if Wave's DeBreath plugin will work with the current version of Audacity (2.0.6)? I am running Windows 8.1, 64 bit application on an HP Envy laptop with lots of RAM and a large hard drive. If DeBreath will work, how do I install it so that Audacity sees the effect and runs it when ...
