Can you attach attach a sample exported as WAV of both files so we can examine them? Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=64936.

Re: Audacity filling up the /var/tmp directory in Ubuntu 14.
I tried to load t (rather large, 6h duration) .mp3 file with a view to chopping out the 2 hours that I wanted. The loading did not go well, and the system hung after several minutes and I had to "force quit" Audacity. Today, I tried to start the program again. It protested a bit, but did ...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
On Mac it finds the Audacity executable in its folder inside the Audacity application folder, so "Audacity.App/Contents/MacOS/Audacity" (which is the path to the embedded app and is not a folder). It wants to replace "/MacOS/Audacity" in that path with "Resources" so t...

Re: How to upgrade Audacity 1.3.13 to 2.0.6
Sorry can I just recap on the essential problem. It appears now that there is not a playback problem in Audacity, in fact Audacity plays to the TV in the same way that Windows Media Player does. You said you were recordings songs from the internet. Then you say: All I'm doing is sending audio/video ...

Re: Auto splitting tracks by specified length of time?
Regretfully, the so-called standard feature in Audacity just does not cut it. It will either create an exact number of labels, or else split the track by the EXACT amount of time specified. The answer by skaap just does not cut it. This would sound good and dandy, except that it cuts there REGARDLE...

Choose View > Fit in Window then View > Show Clipping. If the track now shows a mass of red vertical lines, you recorded too loud.PPOOMM wrote:Both.

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
Patch attached… This patch does not actually cause anything to happen it just puts up a dialog displaying the full path to the Audacity application. @Gale - could you try this patch on Mac & Linux and verify that the resulting fully qualified path (ignoring the trailing Audacity.exe) is the exa...

Re: Problems batch converting stereo to mono
Have you read Edit Chains - Audacity Manual and Apply Chain which should clarify? The original files are never overwritten. The exported files will be saved in a folder named "cleaned" in the same folder that the original files came from. When applying a Chain to files, the export sample ...

Re: Multi-channel Recording in Audacity
Alesis products are known (as a general rule) not to record multi-channel into Audacity under Windows Vista or later, unless you compile Audacity with ASIO support.
Let us know if you find differently.

Re: External Sound Card Problem
Please be careful with XP. It is a security risk given Microsoft no longer supports XP with patches. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=254876#p254876 . If you had Vista or later you could almost certainly record YouTube playing to Roland digitally (without the analogue cable), using ...
