Re: clicks and dropouts

Close as many other applications as you can when recording. I disagree with Koz, changing Audio to buffer often does help Mac playback problems on Mavericks. Just remember that 100 milliseconds is the default value if you do need to go back. How long is it since you rebooted? Try rebooting more ofte...

Re: Recording Problems

152 GB of disk space is adequate for most purposes. By default Audacity needs 20 MB of space per minute of visible audio, plus 20 MB per minute for each and every edit while the project is open. However you should not let temporary data build up. If you have not saved an Audacity project and have co...

Re: ERROR in Plot Spectrum?

So I'm clear, does that also mean per selected track, so with 6 selected tracks there are by default six traces? Or only for stereo pairs and tracks assigned to Left or Right? One trace per channel. If you select one stereo track and 3 mono tracks, Plot Spectrum will show 4 traces. I'm still unclea...

Re: Trying to install drum plug in, help!

I cannot extract the Sequencer 2 to the Audacity folder, my winrar extractor shows DENIED in the operation prompt. Not an Audacity problem. Make sure you have permission to write to the Audacity folder you are trying to extract to. If that folder is in Program Files you will need administrator perm...

Re: How do I raise input levels or increase waveform?

I read the FAQ and followed all of the suggestions (that's how I learned about increasing the buffer) including setting the recording quality to 16 bit. I even tried recording in mono but the dropouts are still there. This is the first time you have mentioned dropouts. So you have been looking at h...

Re: How do I raise input levels or increase waveform?

Increasing the volume on the web site doesn't really solve my problem. Even at full volume on the web site and full volume on my mac (I have to turn my speakers down to compensate) I am seeing peaks at only around -12 dB or around + or - 4 on the waveform in the track itself. +/-0.4 is still -8 dB....

Re: Volume sounds good in Audacity, but resulting MP3 too lo

I'm a total audio noob but I figured out how to record sound from my PC (me playing some games). The recording inside Audacity sounds good and loud enough. When I save it, however, the result is an MP3 that is way too quiet. Any advice? Maybe a setting I'm missing? Import the MP3 back into Audacity...

Re: 2.0.6 crashes, freezes computer on launch

Done. I used Windows' "Update device drivers". Unfortunately that will usually not give you the most up to date drivers for your sound card. It only checks generic Windows drivers, not the specific drivers for your actual hardware. I think Windows Device Manager is a little more intellige...

Re: ERROR in Plot Spectrum?

Would we not want a checkbox to turn per channel display on and off? I think the default behaviour should be to show one trace per selected channel. So I'm clear, does that also mean per selected track, so with 6 selected tracks there are by default six traces? Or only for stereo pairs and tracks a...

Re: 'Export Audio' will always default to .aiff extension

drop-down menu is on "MP3 Files". And changing something on the drop-down menu should as well auto-modify the file extension! But it never does that. The file format you choose specifies the extension that Audacity will add automatically when the file is exported, but that extension does ...
