Re: Audacity records faster
Have you tried initialising audacity.cfg? Quit Audacity then open ~/.audacity-data/audacity.cfg in your favourite text editor Aha! It had to be that! I made it simpler: I renamed the audacity.cfg, for if... Started again and... worked. Then I went to Preferences , turned to 22050 Hz, quit, started ...

Re: using system mixer to set recording level
Windows 8.1, Audacity 2.0.6, I believe I got the exe installer I get best results when recoding streaming audio by setting my playback and recording device to the built in speakers. (WASAPI, Realtek, Realtek) However, the recording level hits zero. My understanding is that's too high. When I hover ...

Re: using system mixer to set recording level
I too have a Realtek Soundcard on my Toshiba Satellite laptop - with that, using WASAPI loopback, I can use the playback slider in the Mixer Toolbar to adjust the volume that comes out of my speakers, it is not grayed out. It also moves the recording slider (also not grayed-out) in unison with it a...

Re: High pitched Ringing
I get some HUGE background noise when I use OBS to record video and sound at the same time. In OBS recording, there is no high pitched ringing noise, it is in audacity where I hear it. I heard that It was better to record on audacity for these types of things. So i gave it a try, and on top of the ...

Re: Audacity crashing at startup
What version of Audacity are you using? What does it say if you hover your computer mouse over audacity.exe? If you are using Audacity 2.0.4 then the problem may be solvable by simply updating to the current 2.0.6 version from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . If the problem persists in 2.0...

Re: help with windows- new user
Hi all - totally bewildered - not a problem with Audacity, rather windows I believe - I can't monitor sound when looking at and playing the audacity files. They play fine when I export them to MP3. I've checked mixer levels etc. What am I doing wrong? What you are doing "wrong" is not ans...

Re: 2.0.5 - Very long recording, very choppy.
Alright, sounds good. There are just under 25,000 files, so this may take a while. Can I skip ahead to the affected part, or will that mess it up? I am not sure exactly what you mean but you can choose what files to time-sort, rename and recover to WAV. So you could start with the end of the record...

Re: How to insert selection at the beginning of a track
I have a song all composed, and I realized that I wanted the instrumental intro to repeat one more round before the main verse starts. So I copy the intro, and go to the beginning of the track like you say, and press 'paste', and instead of the tracks naturally moving over to accomodate the new sel...

Re: Auto labelling - possible?
The Label Track dropdown menu is nowhere near as full as the Audio Track dropdown menu. The track menus really belong with the track. Normally, options selected in a track menu apply specifically to that track. Absolutely, what I mean is having an item there to sort labels. At the moment I'm leanin...

Re: Audacity records faster
When you launch Audacity, do you just click on the Audacity icon or do you click on an Audacity AUP file or WAV file? I usually start by clicking the Audacity icon. What happens if you just click on the Audacity icon then CTRL + P to open Audacity Preferences and then click OK in Preferences (witho...
