Re: Question on how Audacity handles its audio files.

If I delete a track prior to saving the project for the first time... does Audacity still delete the underlying audio files?

Question on how Audacity handles its audio files.

I guess I could experiment, and observe the results... but I thought it would be faster to ask my question(s) here. I understand how Audicity works, in that all original audio recorded into Audacity is stored unchanged in roughly 1 Meg files, and all the editing/effect/processing you've done on the ...

Re: Stopping/Starting recording without creating new tracks

I hear you Andy...

For a serious recording (those days will come soon) I wouldn't use a DI on the guitars... but just to capture how we're playing in practice... it's the most practical way right now.

Thanks for all your help

Re: Stopping/Starting recording without creating new tracks

It wasn't too bad. I saved every "set"... maybe 45 mins or so. Afterwards (and after doing a crude pan on some of the 7 tracks) I zoomed to "fit all in window" and could easily see where songs began/ended. I could select that selection, press play... do a quick track level balance, and export as mp3...

Re: Memory usage? 100%???

You *think* you're closing everything... but there are probably tons of processes running in the background you don't need.

Re: Memory usage? 100%???

If what you mean is that using Task Manager (without Audacity running) uses all your memory and caused your system to freeze, then you've got problems nothing to do with Audacity. "SpeedUpMyPc3" and programs of that ilk, I've found do more harm than good. If you're saying you have a gig of RAM... th...

Re: Memory usage? 100%???

How much RAM do you have? Open your Task Manager first (right click on vacant spot on your taskbar), and select the "Processes" tab. Task Manager will "stay on top" all the time. Play your file in Audacity, and looking at the processes in Task Manager, see how much CPU-Resources/Memory is used by Au...

Lowering Level on all tracks

The other night, I recorded my band's practice using 7 tracks. I then selected each song, and quickly adjusted levels of drums/vocals/guitars etc. to something close to balanced to do an export as mp3. I found that often, the combined tracks were clipping. Is there any way to reduce all tracks by 3d...

Re: How can I "export selection as mp3" on all tracks?

Ahh... thank you.

I finally had managed to do it by using "Add label at selection"

Then when I clicked on the lable, I noticed all tracks were selected... so exporting selection then worked.

Your way would be quicker for a quick export... thanks
